That's the one thing I hate about Toyota's "package system" I can understand packaging things like the TRD off-road package, but then there is no reason that you need power running boards in order to get the HUD system. It's just a way to force you to spend more money in order to get something you want.

Most manufacturer's do that unfortunately. Get you to spend more money and it simplifies their build process.

yeah we wanted the hud display but the cost of getting it at $3k for the hud/avs and power boards is not worth the cost. we can live without it, just a nice to have feature.

maybe its just a limitation of costco and maybe a regular toyota dealer option system will let you only get the avs/hud without the power boards. the power boards are useless for us in ND during the winters. they freeze into place when the slush/snow melts on them. we prefer the simplicity of the regular running boards that work all the time.

we learned our lesson with the predator steps on the 16 tacoma, they would catch snow/slush and freeze covered over during the winter, always having to break off the ice. plus they get beat to heck with rocks chipping the coating.

Yeah, they all have packages, but it seems like the domestics do allow a lot more ala carte type items whereas with Toyota almost everything is always part of a package.

Toyota has pretty much always done this with the Tundra. They don't sell enough for it to be worth it to let every customer who wants to custom order do so.

Drove a vehicle with HUD display for a week, cool at first but became an annoying feature so I turned it off after 2 days. I really hope it’s all worth it at the end with all these headaches…

Also saw build sheets that lunar rock could go on the limited.

A few more I found was it said rear vertical window, pano roof and digital rear view mirror can only be on limited and up but I've seen an SR5 with all 3.

I’ll give Sweers a zj if lunar rock ends up being available on a platinum or 1794. I swear, Toyota screws up the color availability on models ever year. Why can you get the best colors only in the base model and SR5, or TRD pro. Makes zero sense. Make the colors available to all trims and 1-2 special pro only colors.

Seconded. Lunar rock is by far the best color, but I like a bit of the finer things in life...

Exactly, part of me is wondering if I could “survive” with a limited to get the lunar rock.

7 percent used to be a pretty good starting point. I agree the tide will change
I'd pay for a new paint job before I ga e a Zj but each to his own.

Save yourself money and buy the SR5 off-road package for some chrome. Katskinz and bam you have a Platinum. (sarcasm, just like ppl saying save money and make a faux pro).

But seriously, yes all colors should be across the board. I'd like to see more metallics or pearl paints.

I'm hoping that doesn't come to pass. I would strongly prefer a Lunar Rock Platinum so I can get the HUD, air suspension, etc...with the color of my choosing. This isn't difficult.

Exactly…. The platinum colors have been sooo boring- give us army green and lunar rock, I honestly am so sick of MGM after owning so many and the only other real option is white… my wife’s 4Runner is white and I don’t sell blow, so that’s a no for me

exactly, I was pretty pumped for a blueprint platinum especially since that was the truck they were out pimping around, then poof, you cant get one.

really stupid. Im also kind of tired of grey but I don't like any of the platinum colors, which of there are hardly any.

That's the one other color I would consider, though I think I would prefer it in the 1794 because I really like the interior.

not anymore really, I had bright red trucks when I was younger, etc. but not really into that supersonic red deal.

I like more understated at this point.

    totally subjective though.

it just blows you get 5 colors to choose from teh top of the truck, weak tea IMO. especially the blueprint that were showing and now you cant get

I think they feel like the market for the Platinum trim is older and less interested in flashy colors.

    https://www.motorious.com/articles/features-3/toyota-busts-microchip-shortage/

Unsure of the source but Toyota claims it has the chips to make 800,000 cars in December. More than December of 2020.

"Toyota has announced it will be back to full global production capacity in December. In fact, the company says it anticipates churning out 800,000 vehicles next month, up from the 760,000 it made in December of 2020."

"Nobody inside Toyota is revealing how the automaker has been able to secure enough chips to return to full production levels. However, the company has said it will do so without removing features from its vehicles, a corner many automakers have been cutting so they can make their dwindling chip supply stretch further. In fact, GM recently revealed it will be axing items like heated seats, ventilated seats, blind zone monitoring, Super Cruise, etc. on several models"

The engine's never had a single issue. Was just random electrical things that got cleared up with an OTA update.

You get more camera views with the panoramic cameras like a bed view and trailer hitch view. The multi terrain only has front back and sides from what I could find.

Just putting this out there as discussion counterpoint. Toyota plan is 40% reduction with some temporary plant closures. They intend to support the Tundra roll-out with the San Antonio plant opened at 100% capacity. They stockpiled all required parts in support of this. My take is it's a marketing strategy pushing sales on the Tundra. Could be wrong but just my two cents. Guess I will find out as I ordered a Tundra Limited TRD OR two weeks ago.

This is the second article noted over the internet supporting Toyota Tundra Strategy.
