    Thanks!

It affects all employers over 100 employees in the state of KY, and I think TN....

May have to strike out on my own.

If anyone here has cut the cord to cable and are looking for cheap cable channels, AMC+ is offering a $24 yearly plan at 70% off on their website www.amcplus.com. The shows are kind of limited so check them out before commiting.

P.S. - Also be aware they have an issue getting it to work on the Roku Ultra but I know it works on my earlier Roku 2.

As someone that's been tasked with hiring a lot the last 4-6 years, I'd encourage you to cane the following on anything you don't know.

"I fundamentally understand how XYZ works, but [previous employer] wasn't able to provide much exposure, which is a significant reason I'm applying here..."

    or

"I'm a quick learn, especially if there's a [mechanical|electrical|hydraulic] concept involved and I'm eager to learn more if you'll give me the opportunity..."

Whatever you do, DO NOT bag on your previous employer. Regardless how dissatisfied you are. Keep it positive, it really does count for something. A potential employer knows if you're willing to talk shit about your current employer, you're liable to do the exact same about them with others.

I love to see candidates who are hungry, and who show they can understand similarities in concepts or at least have a fundamental understanding of how things work, because you can build anything off a fundamental. I don't need new hires to understand the fine details, only that they have general understanding, the light is on upstairs, and they'll be a solid fit with others on the team. "Practical Hiring 101", I'm not the only one like this, because:
    • As long as you get along w/the rest of the team, they'll be open to help you learn the ropes.
    • As long as you have fundamental understanding, you'll be able to process what they show you.
    • If you're bright, the light is on upstairs, you'll be able to tie it all together, build to self-sufficience.

I have 100% faith you can land it, you got this. Every recruiter I've ever talked to has told me as long as you vaguely match 60%-70% of a job description, run with it. And if you don't, at least read enough to have a mental overview of it, so you can barf back basic understanding and potentially skate with, "haven't had as much direct exposure as I'd like, that's exactly why I'm here looking for the opportunity!"

Just realize, if you put forth the effort and successfully land this new gig, two months from now, you may be forced to give up this potentially life-changing opportunity based on personal choices you expressed frustration/avoidance of above. But getting into that would have me breaking forum rules, so instead, I'd just say "maybe learn from my shitty life choices".

Too many times I've learned the hard way that, like cough medicine, the easiest, conflict-free path to getting a break in life tastes like utter shit for a minute. Like, it would've been a helluva lot easier to hold my nose, just do the damn thing, then get on with life like everyone else seemed to be, but I wasn't willing because <insert reason that sounded great at the time>. Seems like every time it was the case - without fail - 6/12/18 months later I found myself back in front of the same decision:

    (A) I can hold my ground, then go thru another 6/12/18 month repeat, or
    (B) I can hold my nose, just do the damn thing, then move on with life

Very rare was it possible to get by without (B) until my late 30s/early 40s, I had a foundation, career, slush fund, equally successful spouse, the kinds of things that afford you the ability to do whatever the hell you want. A lot of my family opted for (A) repeatedly, as if that's not the definition of insanity and/or stupidity, and they've amounted to nothing as a result. Married 3x, multiple kids from each, all their money goes to child support, addiction, nothing to their name, etc.

There were many life decisions like (B) above which I didn't feel awesome about at the time, but frankly I'd probably still be incarcerated if I hadn't broken down and made them. Sometimes getting ahead felt like stepping back, but honestly? The only thing that sucked worse than those 6/12/18 month rinse-repeat cycles was finally getting to the other side of swallowing (B) only to realize it wasn't as bad as I made it out to be, and I just stunted my own life for something insignificant in the long run - time I can't get back.

I had a lot of folks 35+ encourage me to stand on my every principle, but what I failed to realize is they were already far enough ahead in life they could afford that convenience. I wasn't, and I couldn't afford to listen to that. I get it now, they thought they were being helpful, encouraging me to do what they wished they'd have done, but they made those (B) decisions, same as me. Hindsight is 20/20.

With that, I'll step off the soap box. I know I'm not your dad, I'm not family, nor am I a shrink. While I'm not either, I've definitely put myself through too much unnecessary shit over the last several decades because I refused to follow paths I didn't feel jibed with who I was.

@empty_lord I saw this and thought of you. I think @Darkness needs to win it, then hold it for you to pick it up. It went through 1 iteration of auction at least already - closed between $12-14k, but it's relisted. Maybe the winner didn't pick up? Or maybe the seller reneg'd. Dunno.

Been thinking on exhaust for crackie, and remembered something that @empty_lord had said. Frames are the "same." I looked at my old frame on top of the pile of other frames.

I identified mine because regular cabs have four bed bolt holes per side versus three from access cabs. The frame looked identical to the access cab frames except the fourth bed bolt riser from the frame rail up.

Does that mean exhaust is the same too?

Let's assume I can find a good junk yard set of just regular exhaust for cheap to get the truck by for now. Would it bolt up?

So I read back over that and I must've had an extra beer last night, because there's no way I would've spoken that eloquently or honestly otherwise.

It's funny. When stone cold sober, a lot of humans tend to hold back important bits that make a huge difference, often to save face or paint history in a better light. With full beer goggles on, out comes the stupid, incoherent shit that'll probably leave the writer scratching their head or deleting their post the next day. Then there's this fine line in between both where you can see shit clear as day for what it was, but your inhibition is just loose enough to be brutally honest and call things for what they are.

I think I was having a fine-line moment last night. Although I can see how some would maybe interpret all that as a beer goggles moment, that chunk of text pretty much summarizes a little over three decades of how my life went. Everyone is different, but life has an uncanny way of throwing the same fundamental challenges in front of all of us, and I'm a hardheaded, stubborn SOB. The two didn't mix well.

Isn't it cheaper to just get the exhaust fixed for $50-$75 bucks and deal with getting a new one later?

He is wrong. He should not have continued the date if she demanded dinner for kids who he hasn't met, were not attendees of the date, and for all he knows don't exist. I've done worse.

Once I was on a date and took the young lady to a bar. While at the bar she kept getting on her phone. After 2 beers of this I excused myself to the restroom, then walked out the back door to my car and left her there. By the time she realized I wasn't coming back I was home (20 minutes) and I told her whoever she keeps texting can pick her up. She didn't like that at all but I felt it was an appropriate way to end that first date.

pure unadulterated jackassery. The vulcan 3.0 is weak and thirsty, it might as well be loud.

but the trans is on its way out, so ive been considering swapping my cleveland 351/c6 but kinda want a clutch pedal.

I got one of these for X-mas 1982...it was $600 in 1982 dollars....$1,782 in today's money. We were at BEST middle class...my bother got one too...as happy as I was to get it (I was $%#$^% thrilled) I did not have an appreciation for the cost until I was an adult buying my kids presents for X-mas...:D:D:D

    This is perfect. 10/10

44/9? GD. I was a hoss for running a 45/15 on my 22lb race bike back in the 90s. I can't imagine pedaling that hog around.

    Ive never skipped leg day.

can damn near bunny hop my firebolt.

but it wasnt for the racetrack. Race wheel is a 13. But i’d bet i have 2-3 thousand miles on that bike. Insurance was too expensive growing up, so from ‘03-‘07 and ‘09-‘14 that was my transportation. But, everything was within a 10 mile circle.
