I am looking to buy my first Tundra. I have a local used car dealer that just got a 2011 platinum. It has all the available options for the year, crewmax cab, 4x4 and lifted a tad. It is in great condition but has 189,000 miles. Would you buy it for $26,000?

I have never heard anyone talk about having issues with a Tundra. Actually, everyone I have spoken to that has one absolutely loves them.

I feel like the price is a little high but not sure. Thank you in advance for your advice!

To me.. That seems like an awful lot of miles for 26k.
I understand these bring a premium but still... Depending on your location it might be a little high or just right.

That's a little steep for that many miles, but prices are crazy right now... I paid roughly $25k for my 2012 limited Crewmax with 110k miles a year ago. When I was looking trucks with over 150k miles were in the $18-22k range at most. So the market being what it is... That being said, the mileage isn't terrible for a Toyota, considering, if its in great condition, has maintenance records and no rust. I bought my '98 LX470 at 180k miles, drove it hard until 260k miles and sold it for 1/2 what I paid for it... I did budget about $1k a year for stuff to wear out and need to be replaced, which will be your biggest issue, as a lot of components will be reaching their end of service ratings and will need to at least keep an eye on them. I certainly wouldn't be afraid of the mileage, and if those are highway miles, its not a big deal and probably worth it to haggle them down a few thousand at least.

I’d sell my 2011 for that right now.

If you can wait a year or even 6 months to buy, prices may start coming back to Earth.

Update...I needed a vehicle pretty bad so I went to look at it. I fell in love when I drove it lol. I was able to talk them down a tad. The price tag made me sick but thats with everything that I have looked at. So here she is!

I have a 2010 with about the same number of miles as yours.

I have had virtually zero issues to this point, but I'm to the point that I will start replacing stuff proactively to keep my truck running trouble free for the foreseeable future.

Yes, there might be some small gaps in it. Overall it has really good records and hasn't had to have any major repairs.

    Congratulations on your purchase.

I picked up a 2010 Platinum 4x4 with 158k miles for 25999. I do not regret at all. It’s had to find trucks that haven’t been beat to death nowadays.

I agree but everything is crazy priced right now. I looked at several F150s with similar mileage and they were almost the same price.

All miles are not the same. If it had only 50k miles I wouldn't buy it if mostly towing. On the other hand... 180k mostly commute freeway miles...
