Are you a bird watcher, hunter, or outdoor type person? Maybe you just like to spy on your neighbors or on a cheating spouse? Well, here is a use for those worthless cup holders found in the doors of your 2.5 Generation Tundra. Heck, if you’d like to spy with a friend, put a second set of binoculars in the passenger side door! :)

I use my door cup holder for a water bottle. I much prefer the door, out of the way and easy access.

well, maybe not completely worthless. :)

I find it difficult to fit a decent size (height or width) water bottle or drink cup in there, outside a plastic water bottle or Coke bottle or canned beverage. Even with those, they are difficult to access. The TWO holders near the console are much better, except the third one that’s closest to the dash. That one is also worthless, IMO. I use that one for junk.

h/t to Smallmouth King for getting me thinking about making those door cup holders more useful. I don't travel around with binoculars, but do generally travel around with something else down there and found that the overall size of the door pocket meant it was always knocking around when going around corners. Well, after carving out a little bit of tool box foam, I suddenly had a "useful" door cup holder. It didn't work for a full size 1911, as that's too large for my hands to be able to retrieve easily, but the little Performance Center M&P fit pretty well.

great idea! I might do that when I’m in town! I do have a safe in my console box, but this mod would make for better access for my S&W 45 auto. Another possibility might be to add the foam to the compartment just in front of the cup holders?

I keep two pairs of gloves in there. A beanie in front of that and the same Costco microfiber towel in the pocket behind.
