37's on a 2nd Gen?

Anyone on here running larger than a 35" tire on 2nd gen Tundra? I'm seeing a lot of 2.5 gens, but getting tired or searching. I have 35s now with a 3.5-4 inch lift all around and I can't imagine 37s fitting even after trimming. Any advice or pics would be great!

suspension, steering, and wheel well dimensions are the same from 2007 to 2021 models. if you see a 2.5 gen with 37s, a 2nd gen can do it just as easily. the linked thread is the definitive source for how to fit them with minimal lift.

 

Thanks guys. I thought for sure something must be different with my wheel wells for a little bit here. I think it's just the offset for now on the wheels I have. They're 18x9 with 0 offset. Maybe one day I'll go up in size. Definitely not for a while, though!

Ya, you need offset much closer to stock which is 60mm. 25 will work. Get medieval on the body mount, trim the skid, lose the swaybar, move and remove plastic. 2" lift is actually enough.

Need those offsets to be positive. The more negative the farther out they go. Lots of guys running 0 to +25. Others make it work with some negative offset. Stock RW wheels are +50 I believe and are typically run with spacers to avoid UCA contact.

 

I always get these mixed but @GreatBasinTundra has it correct - positive offset moves wheel closer to vehicle and negative moves the wheel out away from the vehicle. TRD OR wheels are +60.

Do you plan on wheeling it or not plays a factor. I have a aggressive bmc and folded pinch weld over I have method 17x8.5 0 offset wheels

 

I can always count on the good people in this forum to answer these questions. I know you can always find it somewhere with a deep dive, but it's not always time friendly! hahaha

Anyway, I don't plan on switching to 37s any time soon. I'm thinking down the line I might get 37s and maybe re-gear, but no need for that now. Just gotta figure out if I'm gonna get different wheels with a more positive offset or just preemptively chop the crap out of the body mount. Might start considering a new front bumper...but don't want to go crazy just yet!

 

The 0 offset makes clearance tougher... surprised you didn't have to cut off the body mount entirely...

 

The only rubbing I have is on my front bumper and inner fender plastics at full flex

a little bit at full lock. I never full lock it unless doing a U turn.

 

If it makes you feel better at the end of the day, buy BFG cuz they run small. So "TeCHnIcaLlY sPeaKInG" it's 36.5. Just do a CMC, slight trim next to the pinch weld, push the caster forward, have wheels between +18-25 and you should be fine. I didn't wanna do 37's cuz of the work I thought it would take to do. So doing a "smaller" 37 made me ok with it. No big deal at all, super happy with it and having a more "plush ride" from the bigger tire
