I’m a step above “observe and report” and even then I never report; I’m sure I’ll get asked 12 questions in the morning, what was the kids name? What did he look like? What’s the police report number? Who was the RA you talked to?

I’ve already done way to much this morning anyways; backed up drain in a bathroom, I actually got the snake and got it, haha the custodial lady was like” was it nasty boys?” I’m like oh you have boys huh?

The hot thing right now is ripping down/head butting exit signs. Last year we replaced like 32, this year we’re in the 70-80s I think. It’s great there a insta account called barstoolaz or barstoolarizona and it’s all the pics and videos from these dip shits destroying stuff, or crazy water leaks; general shenanigans. So usually every morning this one guy pulls it up and we all have a laugh and try to match the call outs to the posts

I saw my GFs father pull a stump out with chains years back. Bad idea since the chain snapped, whipped back and put a huge dent in the tailgate of his 2 yr old F150.

Never saw someone turn white from shock before until that day. We'd be rushing him to the ER if he was only standing 2 ft closer.

 

You can always get a crap moving blanket and put it over the strap at the half point. Or buy one specific for that off Amazon.

 

Yeah I took it real easy and threw my coat over it once the slack was out. If it didn't seem like it wanted to budge I was going to stop. Thankfully it was rotted out.

@Jack McCarthy that's exactly why I put the tailgate down. Although at that point it might just bust out my back window.

@FirstGenVol. Glad you're getting rid of them shrubs. Hard to see down the hill pulling out of your driveway.

Happy it all went well. If you busted out that camper shell glass, it'd be hard to find a cheap replacement. I was quoted a grand for just the new glass on mine. That didn't include labor to install.

 

GB was very influential to me, in molding my musical interests at a young age, and I still love and listen to them to this day. New Direction was the first song that ever made the hair on my arms stand up. IYKYK. Minor threat was also huge for me as a grom. There are handful of sXe bands that I’m a fan of, but I’ve never been edge myself. @shifty` I’m sure you’ve got some Sick of it All, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, etc. in your music library, eh? Well I mean from before the internet. Everybody has everything now. There is no underground music. That is a bittersweet that has changed a lot in the music industry. That feeling when you found a new band to love and all the mystery that went along with it, hunting for albums… that magic is gone. On the other hand, I’ve found so many more bands than ever would’ve been possible before the World Wide Web.

 

So we built and installed bastard packs today.
(Also installed new rear shocks, but that’s NBD.)




And after all that work (in the cold, even if we were inside) it came out almost exactly like when I drove into the place.


It does ride nicely, so the rate is decent.
But the 2.5” discrepancy between front and rear ride heights has to be resolved.

I’m going to buy a shackle flip kit and send the rear of the leaves down so I don’t have to buy new packs. Frustrating, but manageable.
I need to rest. My arm is actually throbbing at this point while I type this on my phone.

Old hardcore music (and new) still gives me chills. My wife thinks it's the weirdest thing. I don't understand how she doesn't relate to music. For those that don't know...

Also. Spotify has opened up a ton of doors for bands that would have otherwise failed. I am a fan of the current digital world (heh). Bands have reach now, rather than relying solely on touring cross country and playing in a VFW, Dennys or Church to a crowd of tweens. It's pretty cool when you peel back the layers.

 

Bittersweet is the right word. Yes, the fishing, hunting, crate digging, trading is gone, but finally there's semi-easy access available to get some of the stuff we all wanted back in the day but couldn't afford or find. At least - what's left of it. And a lot of it still holds up. I still have a lot of LPs and 7" on vinyl.

And yes, those who you mentioned, plus the other usuals, Germs, Youth of Today, 7 Seconds, DK, Cro-Mags, State Of Alert, MDC, Rites of Spring, etc. etc. Everything we could get our hands on, especially compilations, I especially loved the samplers Dischord was putting out, ex: Search Y-tube for: d7u-lf030Mg

Today's a different time, not good or bad, just different. Imagine what it was like for my great aunt who died 10 years ago spent her first 20 years alive w/o TV being invented. We're pretty spoiled today.

FWIW, I don't understand how anyone wouldn't have frisson response. Some people just aren't wired that way. New Direction is a good one, I think it's stronger because of the horn intro with no clear link to what you're about to hear, like a signal you're off to the races, then DUGGA DUNNNGGGGGGGGG and a barrage of drums.

Some people just don't have that same wiring with music. I dated some betties in my younger years who didn't even listen to music (didn't last long). Upbringing, maybe? My parents were always into music, dad played guitar, parents had a gaggle of 8-tracks and 45s.

Hard to understand how you couldn't find joy in music, but I've always suspected it's the events I've linked to the music that bring the most response. I have just as many memories tied to Minor Threat as I do Merle Haggard, as bizarre as that sounds, but it's pretty profound for both, alike. Hearing some songs are time travel.

RE: Spotify. Double edged sword. Anyone with a computer can put garbage out there now, distributed to a worldwide audience, adding clutter. Used to be if you didn't have some semblance of talent, you never bubbled up enough to get beyond your local scene. Nowadays, equipment and emulators are cheap, anyone can get out there.

I feel like back in the day, if you actually heard of a band, it had to be at least average quality. Today, I can start a random Spotify-recommended playlist and need skip through the first dozen or two songs before I find something remotely listenable.

Edit: It also used to be that you could rely on a record label to find "like" music and talent. Record labels, I don't feel, are really a thing anymore. They don't distribute. Streaming services have taken the place of that. I'm sure someone has probably written more on this subject and thought about it more than I am here....

I disagree. To have a solid label behind you is still merit, especially when it comes to promotion and advertisement.

Streaming (on a platform such as Spotify) just caters to everyone. Sure, I have a couple buddies that only get 1k listens per month on Spotify. And ya know what? I'm probably 800 of those listens. The interesting thing about streaming is that people will listen to what they want... Not just what a label puts out.

I'm not saying I like most of the bottem barrel stuff on streaming platform... But there are people that do. And those people inevitably contribute back to those artists.

 

Just reading this gave me a slight sense of the chills. Fucking love that shit. i do agree with @alee891 on the point of having a solid label helps. And solid labels don’t sign shitty bands. A reputable label will get bands gigs that they couldn’t have got on their own. Playing for bigger crowds, getting their name out there. Spotify can’t do that.
Also, I think it’s pretty cool that vinyl is making a comeback. Not only new albums, but bands are re-releasing old shit on vinyl now that wasn’t pressed previously.

If a parts car pops up and I can get my buddy to work his magic on the ECM. I want to do it. Headers, tundra vvti intake manifold and 4runner factory intake should fit the engine nicely and should make damn good power.

Eh. This taco being a dirt cheap truck will be the one that sees offroader. $1350 invested so far. (That’s uh. Including the truck) Aftermarket headlights purchased recently to attempt a retro. Damn near new wheels and tires for free on it. Frames free, just need it to get here, and we’ll I’ll be doing a lift to it probably on the cheap for now. But then full armor and likely a roof rack on the cap and cab. I want to be able to just pack up and go. I sleep in the beds of my trucks. So storage up top is nice

 

The Dodge is Zach's Dad's project. The v8 in it is from an early 60s (63?) Polara. It is fully sick. It languished for over a decade until Zach bought this place last year. He was on his dad immediately to bring the Dodge over so they could get it on the road. I expect to see that thing laying elevens and cruising next spring. Zach knows his way around the spanners and loves burnouts.

The EG is Zach's drag car. It makes ~600whp and weighs maybe 1800lbs wet & caged. I don't know enough about Hondas to know if it's got a built B or K, but I do know the engine is loaded with 4Piston parts.

Out of frame is an LS-powered Z car.
There are more toys tucked all over the place over there. You guys should see his tow-rig. Mid-2000s f350 (450?) dual cab, dually 8' bed, diesel....with a 5" drop and 22" Alcoas. Zach likes to party.

I think I put the front springs on the wrong side.
The passenger's side is 3/4" higher than the driver's.
