From readings, it seems the way to go is new wl13 calipers with toyota trd pads. The old calipers are worn out and crusted up/seized and need replacing. Doesn’t look to difficult of a job. Anyone using that Bosh 5 dot fluid I’ve seen talked about???

Didn't the later models (04/05/06) come with WL13 already?

I hear ya man, I never would have imagined that this was how this brake job was going to go. Worst one I have had to do and I have been doing my own work before I ever started driving. Worked on my dad's vehicles as well. I wish I had tried to just cut the pins with a grinder or dremel tool and tried to force them out each end. At least now the brakes and calipers are new. Good luck

Lives in salt free zone, does not compute. Use to live in salt zone, used fluid film, does not compute.

It's very easy. You just have to trim the dust shield a tad. Heather was running the 5.1 fluid and spoke highly of it.

Yup. They changed in mid 03. So some 03s had em, some didn't.

I hear you. I had to change this in my 2002. Fortunately that same master cyl was used on a bunch of Lexus’. So I was able to get a good new-ish used one for $400 from a yard in Ca.

FYI: 2001 & 2002 4Runners used the integrated ABS/master cylinder too. I had one that never gave me any problems, but it always seemed to me like kinda a dumb idea -- like an engineering answer to a question nobody asked.

Pretty sure every manufacturer is trying to design systems on these vehicles to stop people from working on them. Make things a complete pain in the ass to make the customer rely on the dealer. Oil changes, brakes, transmission fluid, etc,...etc,...

That's to save them cost while increasing the replacement part price so it'll cost you more than having to replace both items individually. Makes perfect sense to me. :D

That I am sure is their plan. They have been making vehicles difficult to work on for the average person for years.
