Funny when we had our freeze in Texas and didn't have power for 48 hours..
I kept thinking as we were huddled up to our gas starter fireplace burning 2X4s when the firewood ran out, 'well at least it will kill the bugs off'.

That freeze didn't do sh!t to the bugs.
We've had just as many this summer as any other summer...:eek2:

Sharing my day with the TM folk:

Spent 3.5 hours this afternoon getting my annual DOT physical at Carenow.
Used to be every 2 years, but with borderline hypertension I have to get it every year.
Nice having a stranger dig his fingers into my ballsack and ask me to cough, although it was the highlight of the day..:D

Came home and made chicken parmesan for the wife and I.
I think I over cooked it a tad, but she liked it.
She will eat a nice medium steak, but she is weird about chicken or pork being cooked like I like it.
    Chicken 160ish.
Pork 150ish, maybe a trace of light pink in the middle.
She won't eat it unless its COOKED.

It feels like a Sunday night for some reason.
I'm glad it's not, but it oddly feels like it.

Been a sad last couple days here.
We're down to one dog, from having 3 just a month ago, with recent events.
The 2 gone were older and it was time..
Put Moxie, the hound dog (she was 14), down 3 weeks ago.
We had to put Max, the schnauzer (he was 13), down Friday, he was Mama's baby.

Point is, the 4 year old pointer mix is kinda freaking out.
    He already has anxiety issues.
I think he thinks he is next to go....:eek2:

He isn't at all used to being the only pup..

We're gonna have to find him a sister when things wind down...
We haven't been a 1 dog family in over 14 years...
We've always had a dog for our dog.
I have 3 kennels in my office, 2 now empty...

I know when my wife is ready, and she finds the right dog (or the right dog finds her), we'll get another pup.
Hopefully by the end of the year if not sooner...

Not asking for sympathy or condolences, it is what it is..
    It's just life...

All I ask is you give your pup or kitty an extra treat and give him/her a hug this weekend.
They are all truly man's best friend...

It’s tough losing a dog. It’s way to easy to give em space in your heart and make them family. We no longer have pets and that may not ever change. First time in our lives without them. Mz gosolo and I don’t want to go through any more deaths if they can be avoided

Did some stuff with the 4runner crew today, pretty fun, earned my pin stripes.
also gave both admins slaps, and one got a kozi. 4A37E2C8-D942-46FE-BF37-EE7597238769.jpg EE19D6E6-7444-4436-8F55-DE921835B91C.jpgF54BBFEC-894A-45DA-BEA7-C470DBE7C04F.jpg8495FF7F-AF0F-4264-9933-B0C8A9B1A18C.jpg4B56B607-20CE-48DC-8AFB-3099780AB116.jpgB3E3F7CD-9417-4080-B4D2-FC2FEDD00F34.jpg469A65C0-4184-41A2-A5C0-16EA0B5B1D0A.jpg1582DE7A-C0D3-4829-A0A1-76D310EDAA8A.jpg

Every time one passes, we've had to put down 3 in 15 years, my wife says no more..
But then we end up getting another one.
It's always her choice and her decision.
Whatever she does or doesn't want as far as pets are concerned is fine with me.

Max, the schnauzer, followed us (Malloy and Moxie) home on a dog walk 12 years ago.
He was too little to kick to the curb so we took him in.
His tail and ears weren't clipped, he still had his rear dewclaws, he wasn't properly cared for.
We couldn't find the owner and she got attached to him so we kept him.

    max1stday_4c2573f5e61ba11f9a5c2482355feb66196cff21.jpg

So we had Moxie and Max.
We were going to Lowes one day and Maverick caught her eye.
A crackhead was selling him in the Walmart parking lot.
She said he was the runt of the litter and the last pup to sell.
    Best $75 we ever spent.

This pic was me holding him that day while my wife went and got the money.
The crackhead was rambling the entire time, smoking one cigarette after another.
You can see her in the background..

    IMG_1073_851b17acd4fc6b0b314b5085957c9dbe6e5c8079.jpg

He was so little back then..

    IMG_1137_fc662d8061c1a1fae748500a207fbb361440ce6a.jpg

Funny how after that 20 minutes of holding him that day, he has always favored me.
He is sleeping under the desk at my feet right now..

    05tgui0h_292934663a2ceb0f9a8d350bdf16cbf3b4e0f16a.jpg

My wife never had kids of her own.
She is a great bonus Mom to the grown kids, and they were in their teens when we met.

I think having the dogs fills a maternal void she may or may not have.
She cooks a little something for them every night to add to their high $$ dog food.

I don't get off work until she has already gone to bed during the week.
Honestly that works for us, too much togetherness won't work for us.
I think not having a dog or 3 would make our home too empty..

It sucks to lose a pet.
But the daily joy of having them seems worth it..
Although that may change as we get older, I don't know..

Sorry for the extensive dog posts..
    It's been a rough couple days/weeks.
    .

As a friend, and someone who prefers being with their dogs more than I do most people, I know the heartache, sorry for the loss Bro. :( Please let the Wifey unit know we're sorry and thinking of her.

Dang. That sucks and not just for you. It's hard for the pups to go through that much of a change in that short of time. Hoping everyone comes through and gets through it ok.
