I spray my TC with triflow, it has Teflon in it which is recommended. I’ve got maybe 30k on ours on the 4runner 5.1 gen

I was cleaning and spraying mine every tire rotation just for maintenance. Mine have been quiet. The bushings on the other hand were really bad and I have replacements but they’ve been quiet for a while now. Now all I hear is the rack squeaking so who knows what’s hiding behind that sound.

I still run uniballs in the tacos. There’s another company that makes nice ball joints too though

@empty_lord or anyone else, I found this on fleabay. Would this be something worth purchasing, or is it overkill for a shade tree mechanic?

They’re useful if you know how to use it and have all the proper parts to it.

Ironic these 2 posts are next to each other. Do we need to start a poll on you selling your truck?

    Nah.
I'm sure if his dad buys it, it'll be well cared for. It's always good to set up pops with a good truck.

In keeping-the-1GT-news, I reckon tomorrow is D-day for starting my chassis/suspension rebuild. It's going to suck b/c it's supposed to snow here. But I have the whole weekend off and need to get the work done.

Feel free to drop by and lend a hand.

We could have a poll on whether we need start a poll on me selling my truck.

It will be. Dad actually had a 2005 Tundra up until about 4 months ago. He sold it to my younger brother to use in his plumbing business and dad bought a 2006 RAV4. He and mom are planning a cross-country trip towards the end of next year and mom is saying that while the RAV is nice, she won't do the trip without being in a truck. So my truck would stay in the family, get well maintained and put to good use.

We're basically waiting to see the pricing and availability of the 2022 Tundra before we make a decision.

    Pics will be temperature-dependent.
The colder it is, the less likely I am to take the time to take pics.
I'll be in the garage, but with the door open because big truck/small garage problems.
I'll just bundle up and do my best to work quickly. If nothing else, I'll take before/after pics.

So I’m noticing after all the rehab work that when I start from a stop there is a rough half second at maybe 2-3 mph when turning. Sort of at peak torque.

Almost like a tire is rubbing.

Any ideas what I’m talking about?

EDIT: Some quick googling and it sounds like maybe I need to go get an alignment since the tie rods were done? But outside of tire wear, nothing to really be concerned about? Given my tires are 2016's, no huge rush to preserve them...

Booked an appt, earliest my local shop has is 11/30 which is probably ok by me given minimal miles and a don't-care attitude about the tires. Just not sure if I should even bother since once the lift goes on I have to do another alignment anyway. And since that lifted alignment is going to cost twice as much I should really get tires done after the lift and before the lifted alignment.

    Interesting stuff.

We haven't formed the committee yet. The selection board needs to meet in order to designate committee members. First though, a motion to summon the selection board needs to be tabled.

I'm a bit in the same boat. Might let the boy child (he's 21) drive the FGT and sell his Mustang. Picking up a 2019 TRD CM Limited tomorrow. I feel some shame at being excited, but it's been 16 years since I've had a new (to me) truck. I couldn't wait for the 22 and honestly not sure I want to be first in line. I will revisit them in 2-3 years since I will be in a payment and swapping to a new one won't look so harsh. Been a great 12 years without a truck payment. Glad both of our FGT's will be in the family. I could never sell mine.

Well, I guess we’re bypassing some red tape. Love it. Will the selection board members please sound off?
