These days can't you find where pics were taken from pic info? Maybe bluring plates out is an outdated measure for security.

You got me. I don’t remember posting any of that. My truck looks a little different now. Didn’t even notice the vin on the alignment sheet until now.

I deleted the quotes out of respect of privacy, but just wanted to show what's out there lol

If you do a search on this site for "attach" or "img" it'll bring up any pics you posted, if you want to go back and clean up anything.

I agree with you that everything is online now. I don’t go out of my way with vpns or anything but try to be conscious about it but your other post showed how easily you could find me.

Yeah, it's pretty amazing everything that's out there, even being careful. That's why I don't really bother too much. In my opinion, unless you're INCREDIBLY careful about your online presence, you can be found if someone is looking hard enough.

Depends on if this feature is enabled. Each data point is an additional piece of the puzzle when building a profile. I wouldn't consider a license plate interchangeable with knowing where someone was at a specific time even though what they divulge may overlap.

This is true, but I view it similarly to putting a lock on a cooler or some luggage. Will it stop a thief with some tools and a little determination? No. Will it deter the average passerby, or halfass shitwit? Yes. Same goes for locking your truck or putting on cat protection plates. If somebody really wants it, that's not going to stop them. It's only going to help keep honest people honest, but anyone really determined to find anyone (or steal your shit) can do it.

I agree with this logic. The only difference is I don’t really see any crimes of opportunity online. Someone walking by a parked vehicle and finding it unlocked with an iPad in the passenger seat is very different than someone coming across some PII online. It takes effort to build a profile on someone and take the time to do something with that information. Whereas walking by and snagging an iPad takes little to no thought.

I can see where you're coming from on it. My biggest thing is that it takes no time to do, and it certainly won't make it easier to hassle me. :notsure: Don't get me wrong, I'm not deluded enough to think anything is safe or sacred on the internet, and blurring my plates is not going to do much, if anything, but it won't hurt to do it.

actually yes, I was on a build thread on here and a PI ripped his photo apart and showed a street view of his old house and truck on Google maps. He said to delete all info in your pics format.

I Mean my truck is easy to spot with my custom plate, stickers, and mods done to it. If some idiot has the testicular fortitude to stalk, harass or whatever then they picked the wrong dude/family to mess with. With all the crap going on we still don’t live in fear, we just live. Take precautions, be prepared, and treat everyone with respect and love no matter what. Can’t live like a victim

Used to be in Ohio you sent a plate # and a buck fifty and you got a name and address. I don't much care if anyone comes looking for me. The steep drive and the sign that says "If you can read this, you're in range" deter most. Having this plate so far hasn't been an issue20210519_105553.jpg

In Pant you can select a rectangle and resize it 25% down, and then resize that same rectangle (still selected) back up by 400% and it will be pixelated.

I thought maybe this was about people putting plastic covers over their plates. I worked with a dude that had them. I asked why and he said that plates are reflective and it makes it easier for the laser radar to pick you up. I said so you think that little plate returns a stronger signal then your 6000 lb vehicle.

PA state trooper said the reflective license plate does a great job of reflecting the laser. If no front plate they aim for headlights.
