I've seen it but it never clicked, but yeah. Dirty Deeds does use x-pipes.

Cool thread. You guys really know your stuff. I think I’ll stick with and earlier gen tunny without the willy wonka air systems if I can find one. I read those dirty deeds 12 hole injectors with jba short headers is a good combo for added hp.

I've got their 12 hole injectors and was happy with those on the stock motor. Should really help out with the headers and full exhaust.

Original plan was JBA shorties, stock cats, and bolt on cat back. But the opportunity for the tri-Y headers came up. Now I've spent double my original budget. Hahaha

The 00-04 Tundra may not have the smog crap but it also doesn't have VVTi. Almost 50 horse difference between the two engines.

Just a quick update on the exhaust. The Magnaflow didn't have a center o2 bung so I would have had to get an extension harness. Here is my exhaust parts list as-is:

    Cats: (qty 2) p/n 495200 (2.5"ID in/out)
    Muffler: (qty 1) Borla ProXS 40351 (2.5"ID in/out)

I've mimicked the stock exhaust just with higher flowing components and a stealthy black tip.

The sound is a bit louder than I was hoping. Waiting for a Borla 400938 resonator to arrive to be installed. Right now the truck sounds like a Coyote Mustang with a cat back installed. Want the deep sound under throttle but want to cut down on the raspy tones. Hoping this does the trick.

Also hoping to find the time to remove the last of the SAIS piping and install the Hewitt block off plates sometime soon. This truck isn't my daily, more of a special occasion vehicle. I've only put about 40-50 miles on it since the header/exhaust install.

Alright, finally took the time to install the Hewitt block off plates in the correct location. Took me maybe 45 minutes with a little bit of hand yoga, magnet, 1/4" extensions, and a wobbly extension. As discussed earlier in this thread the 00-04 headers don't have the SAIS tube. So my SAIS pump outlet piping has just been hanging out in open air. If this were my daily driver I would be more concerned but I only drive it maybe 2 times a week.

Pictured below is the SAIS piping just hanging out, open to the atmosphere.
    pipe hanging.jpg

You can see with a couple 1/4" extensions with my 10mm socket I was able to reach the SAIS output piping from either above or below. Pictured is driver's side from above.
    socket.jpg

Removing the SAIS outlet piping from both sides you can see the block off plates can be installed on either end. Luckily the flange is the same shape/size on the manifold and pump sides. Also shown is where the Hewitt plates would be installed on the stock manifolds. The last photo shows me holding the block off plate to the pump side of the SAIS piping.
    hewitt 1.jpg
    hewitt 2.jpg
    pipe w hewitt.jpg

There's a significant harness in the way on the driver's side but I was still able to get both upper and lower bolts started by reaching my mitts in there. Threaded them in just close enough to install the Hewitt plate then ran the bolts home with the 1/4" socket wrench. The SAIS pumps are aluminum so don't over torque the bolts where you strip the pump threads. Oh, and the Hewitt plates are aluminum so if you drop one you can't fish it out with a magnet. Here you see the driver's side complete from above, then the passenger side complete from below.
    drivers side done.jpg
    passenger side done.jpg

This concludes the 00-04 header install onto 05-06 motor. I will update in a few months or as issues arise with the reliability of the SAIS port plugs on the heads. I checked them today and everything still seems to be in ship-shape. The suppressor thread lock seems to be holding up so far.

I thought the block off plates weren't necessary of you got the headers without the sais pipes. Hmm I guess I wasted my money on the sais disabler thing since I did t get one with plates. I guess I'll have to buy the Hewette plug n play. Serves me right for going cheap. But it'll be piece of mind since mines one that requires splicing.

I listed the part numbers for everything somewhere in the thread. Pretty much dual 2.5" cats, y-pipe, 2.5" x 10" borla resonator, and 2.5" Borla muffler.

Got the return dyno in an hour to update how much power everything made. Will make a new thread for that.

I don't think the plates are necessary when you install 04-05 headers without the pipes. Mostly put them on to clean up the engine bay and prevent too much moisture from making it's way into the disabled SAIS pumps. Don't know if it would cause any issues, especially with the system disabled, but I also didn't want to find out.

I would imagine the high temp black paint on the exhaust helps keep if from rusting on the outside as well. I wish I did that years back.

Damn. No one make those style in stainless and it bugs me. I’m ordering 300 series for the exhaust.

Update: 3 years in and the hot lock is still holding the SAIS plugs leak free.

Been chasing an irritating ticking noise and found an exhaust leak at the passenger side collector flange and one at the 2nd Y on the driver's side header.

For leak repairs I'm going to cheap out and put some JB weld on the leaking Y. And going to go to the exhaust shop to get the ball and socket flanges changed out with either V band or standard 3 bolt gasketed flange.

Still happy with the added torque from these headers even after all this time. Ordered a VF Tuning programmer with their canned tune package for the 05-06 Tundra 2UZFE N/A. I'll dyno test their 91/93 tune in a separate post. Now that I found some engine management, later on this year will be Kelford Cams 251/251 stock spring drop in bump sticks.

I've gotten a quote for some mild 4.30:1 gears for my LSD. Math says I'd be happier on long trips with that vs a 4.56:1.

My (very distant future) eventual goal is supercharging so I'm still on the fence about re-gear. I still want some amount of traction. Although, I suppose I can do the gears and if it proves too much with the supercharger I can find a stock 3.92:1 or 4.10:1 third member.

At any rate I want to dyno the Orange Virus/VF Tuner on the same gears I had the other dyno runs.
