search for "cam tower leak" on this forum. select "search titles only" to start with.

sounds like with the cam tower leak, you smell burning oil at start up and not a lot of oil must be leaking since no one mentioned anything about low oil levels or smoke in those threads.

you are seeing "a lot of smoke" ... where do you see it from? engine area or the exhaust? since yours is 2016 I assume the engine area?

maybe you have a serious cam tower leak! look at the pictures in the above threads. how many miles on your car?

smoke under hard acceleration isn't as worrying as you think... I'd rather my engine ran rich than lean at WOT. Rich produces some smoke... lean produces pistons crapping themselves with no smoke.

'smoke' on start up is frequently water vapor rather than smoke

yeah... blue isn't good since it's burning oil - have you checked your oil level?

    '16 is under warranty, no?

have you had an oil change recently? did the smoking on start up happen to occur the next time you used it after you got on it?

Get the oil tested. Maybe the dealer put the wrong stuff in.

You sound like you can turn a wrench, so check something for me.

Remove intake boot, open up the throttle body, and look up into the intake with a flashlight. See if there is any oil residue.

I would have a hard time thinking valve guilds or worn piston rings at 16k miles. Something is getting oil on the wrong side of the piston.

I took to dealer today. They cant make it smoke again.Which is about right LOL.I got the free oil change and tire rotation done.Funny thing is I cant win with the wheels and tires on this thing.First service messed up the wheels.I made a mountain over a Moe Hill on that one just excepted it and went on.But today they CUT a left rear tire.Yes they are doing the right thing and replacing but realy?I just have to laugh.

That's why I won't let them do my oil change. They can't get the simplest of things right. They put the new guy or the inexperienced worker on the simple jobs which obviously are very difficult for them to accomplish properly. Typically the master techs are very good. It's the guys that pick up the slack that don't pick up the slack LOL. And I've heard that certain dealers or the guys behind the scenes will just throw in any old oil. If they change it at all and I've heard of them skipping the filter change too because it's "too difficult". I plan on keeping my truck for a long time and I could give a shit about service records. And to be honest service records from a dealer don't mean shit to me when I'm buying a car because I know the work they do. Now parts receipts that someone saved say a lot more to me.

My 2015 will let off a cloud of bluish grey exhaust smoke upon startup if it has been sitting a few days. I have 19k miles. Won't do it again if I am driving or start it again within a short time. Someone awhile back had mentioned that it needs to be reprogrammed? What would need reprogramming?
*Also no cam tower leaking that I can see
