Ford , Gm and fiat Ram all have to offer better creature comforts that is the trade off for reliability. Without all those fancy gadgets less people would be interested in the already questionable products they offer.

I agree with that, I remember my ford will take almost 9 quarts, and when changing only 5 quarts will be replaced.

Mine wasn't that bad, but I think mine was easily down 2 quarts or so between oil changes (I did mine ever 4K-5K or so).

We have a single cab F250 with the 5.0 in the fleet. One of the funnest trucks I have driven. Man does it scoot.

I didn't realize they'd ever put the 5.0 in the Super Duty.

Haha, we have a couple 6.2 and they are nothing special at all. The 1 7.3 gas will get on down the road pretty good in a 7,000 pounds truck......

I traded in my 16 lariat for my 21 trd pro. My 16 had 502a luxury package on it so it was fully loaded. I can tell you the only thing I miss is the back up sensors. Drive a pro if you can find it. If you’re like me, the second you hear the exhaust hit, you’ll forget about the tech that, at least I, didn’t use that much anyway.

If you do find a pro, especially LR, you might not want to leave without it. Not sure it’ll still be there the next day. Plus resale on these is insane. I paid 57 new and I’m at 64 trade. Good luck

I've owned several Fords. I have no beefs against Ford per se but my 2018 F150 was the worst by far, stranding me and my family twice within a year. It's not real fun getting towed with a travel trailer, or during a pandemic. My profile pic was the exact moment I decided it was a goner.

    Don’t worry about MPGs.
    I have 4,000 miles on my 2021 and I already get 16.5-17 mixed (~60 highway/40 city).
After my first oil change I’ll easily get 17.5 mixed like I have on all my Tundras

Shoot, my mistake that is an F-150. So many trucks in the company. Still very fun to drive with tons of torque.

After owning f150 3.5 eco boost with cam phaser problems at 30000 miles 3 attempts to fix it under warranty. Then looking at the 2500$ bill that was covered under warranty I decided to sell it. Service advisor said he had one truck back 7 times for the same issue all were Covered under warranty that reassuring comment was the last straw for me.

The 5.0 has the plasma coated cylinders. Which have oil burning issues according to the forums. And are non rebuildable blocks.
I was happy to jump into 2021 Tundra, durability trumps all ,when you go with out your truck for weeks at a time.

Don't forget the plastic oil pan on the 5.0 (or maybe all their engines?).

I am considering trading my 2010 tundra for an f150 lightning pro or a Maverick but i think I'll wait a year to decide.

If you want a V8 powered half ton and reliability is number one on your list, a '07-21 tundra is the only choice IMO. It's lack of newer tech is what makes it good. You're getting a brand new truck from 2007...you know, back when things were simplier and had less shit to go wrong.

Time is money. I wanted the truck that was most likely to start and run every single time I turn the key, er—push the button. And I wanted the truck most likely to last the longest on simple routine maintenance. There was no other half-ton choice for me.

I had a 2020 f150 my first new vehicle. It burned 7 quarts of oil in 6,000 miles. My brand new truck had me checking the oil at every fill up at cosco. The 5.0 ford motor was ruined in 2018 with the switch to the plasma cylinder liners. Dealer was telling me it was break in all 5 times i took it in for them to add oil and document. With talks of starting the oil consumption test at around 6500 miles having to return to the dealer every 500 miles for them to pull the dipstick and document oil levels i decided to let it go on a 2021 tundra. With the market being this crazy i was able to do a straight trade into the tundra. My loan amount stayed exactly the same. Now have 6k miles on the tundra and my oil level is full. No visits to the dealer.

F150 rear window doesn't go down like the Tundra Crew Max. That's all that REALLY matters.

OP, I can tell you I was having the same exact crisis as you, and it is a crises of the soul. Your first vehicle that lasted a long time is where you want you loyalty to lie. In my case my first was a 1977 Chevy Scottsdale 4wd and the newer Sierra/Silverado has the Apple Car play and the Cylinder Deactivation of up to 4 cylinders to save gas, heated and cooled seats, so on and so forth but it boils down to I had to the opportunity to get out of my 07 Tahoe and get a 15 Tundra SR5 no frills no bells no whistles. BUT MAN THIS IS A TRUCK!!!! I could not be happier!!!!
I am going to ad what I need and want. I telling you get the Tundra you will not be sorry, you will be liberated!!! Mine is used and has 85k miles but it is built like a tank... It is marvelous... Oh and my wife has a 2012 Rav 4 as well not a lick of trouble for nearly a decade!
AND "the F150 rear window doesnt go down"!! lol.
