Already has in the Midwest. Even the ones not affected yet are getting whacked. #1 tree by far planted by towns and municipalities for decades. All the old shade trees along streets and in parks.

 

I’ve got a hit list of about 40 invasive insects we are watching for. Not my area, but we are usually the ones that identify a infestation. then I get to pass the buck to one of the specialized foresters.

 

40? Holy crap! Japanese beetles got one of my mountain ash this year. Nothing you can do that I know of. Traps just attract more to your area from what I’ve heard and I have 3 more I’d like to live (right in my front yard).

 

Yeah, not really my area on how to remove them. It’s relatively new to us so I think our foresters are still developing a game plan based on what’s happening in other states.

These freakin tree Beatles are terrible.
In our area, They’ve gone from nothing but loblolly pines to hardwoods.
They’re wiping out vast areas of white oaks.
It’s pretty jacked up.

The mountain pine beetle is the one that's been fucking our forests lately.
