So far we’ve done Kauai, Maui, and Hawaii. Kauai is my favorite of those (especially the north side around Hanalei), but we really want to check out Lanai because being away from the beaten path and touristy stuff is more our speed.

Kaanapali area, we almost booked a place in Kihei though.

 

We stayed in Kihei when we were there last year. Good thing because turns out Kaanapali is too fancy for us.

 

My MIL has a timeshare in Kaanapali. Was a nice area

Yo, I got that stuff…

 

We stayed at the Kamaole Sands. Found someone on Air BNB renting out their condo by the week, sort of thing. That put us right across the road from the south end of a really long beach. We had no issues finding space on the beach (unlike in Waikiki or Kona on Big Island, though we were on Big Island at a different time of year). It's also walking distance to a handful of restaurants and really easy access to all parts of the island.

On an unrelated note, you guys tried the Huli-Huli chicken there? We had one tour guide who just went on and on about how good it is but it turns out the stands or trucks guys sell it from are only open certain days so I didn't get to try it.

This is true. It's a sharp looking sticker, but I have some slight concerns. I mean... I know this group and the sense of humor, so I don't immediately trust stuff written in a language I cannot read. I wouldn't put it past anybody in here to think it'd be hilarious to have that say "You're mom gargled my unborn crib midgets" or something.
