I had a different motive. First day on the ground, a tape measure hit the ground about 20’ away, buried in the dirt about 4” and looked like a mess. The next day, a short piece of 2 x 4 hit about 7’ from me. I realized that up top I only would have to worry about me, down here, I have to worry about 50 knuckleheads doing something stupid

 

Oh yeah, that damn flu is a thing of the past!

But yeah, I never understood the hardhat way up on top of everything.
I always tried my best to explain to the superintendent that they wouldn’t stay on when we hit the ground.

Believe it or not, there is cactus in Washington. I know, I know, no one would believe me either until I showed them pictures. Taken south of Asotin Wa.

But over on this side of the state it’s just moss, mushrooms, and fir trees.

Out of all the cactus in the southwest, this dude is the worst. The thorns have barbs that make them hard to pull out; but if you're unlucky enough to lose the end under your skin, you'll either have to cut yourself to get a handle on it, or it'll just keep working its way through until it hits bone or comes out the other side.

They can get pretty invasive if they find an amenable habitat, and the best weapons to fight them are diesel and a match.
