They neglect to mention that for $36k you get a derated engine.

That’s not bad - plus you get 2,000 lbs more payload for more activities!

I agree, my wife has the softex in her Lexus and it looks a lot nicer than my Tundra's leather. My leather isn't cracked, but it has all the wrinkles that will eventually become cracks, plus it's more comfortable.

I am guessing probably won't hear pricing or fuel economy for hybrid until next year closer to their launch.

Toyota just needs to get the builder live so we an figure out what additional "options" you have to have to get the one feature you want lol. I was hoping the regular moon roof would be on Limited CrewMax but it looks like that's pano only. I don't want pano but I have a feeling you have to get it if you want certain features, similar to what Toyota has done in the past.

It was a Ram, and probably bought before the covid car stupidity, Once they inventory catches up, it is not uncommon (actually expected) to take 15K off the top of the sticker on a domestic when you are on the lot.

Thats how I shop for them, I stroll by the trucks, come to one I want and deduct 10K from the start, and then start the negotiation for the remaining 5 or 10.

You are comparing prices buying them piece meal with factory direct. Apples and oranges. When you buy a skid plate separate it has at least 2 levels of markup....direct from the factory installed it can be passed on at or slightly above cost to be competitive and push up the final price on the truck to increase margin.

Same with almost any other vehicle like this, price the parts individually to make a wrangler a rubicon, and you will see the same thing. Buying the factory package is a lot less expensive.

If you stick with the gas engine on the HD trucks, you can buy a lot more truck for a lot less than the 1500's all day long....People think all HD trucks are all 80K, sure you can spec them that way or higher but you don't have to to get what they are built for out of them. ....I don't care which of the big 3 you look at, you can spec a 3/4 ton or 1 ton gasser with twice the capability for sometimes 10K less than any of the domestic (and now toyota) 1/2 tons.

Yeah, I'm probably going the HD gasser route. The Tundra will undoubtedly drive better and have more features but I have a hard time justifying paying the same for less capability. I'll definitely wait to test drive before final decision but right now I'm 50/50 on what my next vehicle will be.

Please send me the info on the dealer that’s willing to sell the ford for that kind of money, even a few years ago most people did not see those prices. Not saying it’s not possible in some cases to get a decent discount on ram but not ford. Ford is selling every truck they can find for sticker, maybe a few bucks off, this includes platinum and limited models for 70-80k, super duties are selling for 10-20k over sticker.

You are talking currently, let them get the inventory flooded into the market and see what happens, that was common at ford dealers in 2019 early 2020 around here.

Ford has a ton of 2021 trucks built with no chips, (and so does chevy/ram) it will be interesting to see how they handle that, I guess they could technically just pop the vins of and change years but we will see.

It will probably drive better, but don't discount the ride on a Ram 2500 with coil springs...When I had mine, I actually liked the ride better than the 1/2 ton version, it wasn't as cushy (or whatever you call it) but it was not harsh, and if you had weight in the bed, it was downright comfy.

True, but that is the kind of article the average new truck buyer will come across...Toyota probably should have thought about that one a bit, it would not have taken much to have all the press say....New Tundra cheapest full size 1/2 ton available in the US....Instead...they have to combat things like this.

Sheet says Pano Roof is a $1,350 option for Limited 4x4 CM, so I would assume it gets the regular moonroof.

Unless it's standard there's a "-" in the regular moon roof column. Maybe it's standard?

Bit of a bummer you can't get even the standard moonroof on an SR5. A fully built SR5 Sport at $60k without one seems off.

That’s the thing is we don’t know how the market will act in a few years, based on what ford and others are saying they will go to a order based system and not have a ton of inventory like the past. If that’s the case than you won’t see any of the high incentives like the past. No need to incentivize anymore if they are selling. Everything was cheaper 3 years ago so it’s hard to compare todays market and think it’s gonna get back to that.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum, I think it's kind of a bummer they are forcing a moonroof on you in the higher trims.

My understanding is, the CM only comes with the Pano roof and the DC only comes with the moonroof.

They are talking about the order based system now because it is working for them in the current shortage, that will change and their dealers and everyone down the food chain will scream bloody murder if they don't begin to fill up lots when they can. It is possible that they reduce supply to keep the prices moving at MSRP, but that is a risk, all it would take is one competitor do reject that and they will be behind the power curve.

All manufacturers would have to adopt the same strategy or they risk losing to their competitor,

Ford limits stock on lots, doesn't discount even though they can...Chevy says, fill up the lots boys...Consumer drives by lots...sees lots of chevy's no fords, which one do ya think they are going to go to....

That's in a regular market. Hansen Ford and Windsor Ford in Grande Prairie would knock a ton off. For giggles I checked last month and Windsor at the time would still honor X-plan pricing if you qualify. Depending on the model that could be up to $20K off. Nobody but RAM is selling for below MSRP these days, using The Great Panic as their reasoning.

So the one I was looking at (unless somehow the TRD Pro comes with a tow mirror option) is the 1794 short bed, Going by all the price charts if I get the Advanced Package, Tow mirrors, and Off-Road package, including shipping it will be $66,460(MSRP) + TTL. There are a few other (probably dealer installed) options that I want that were not shown on the latest price sheet, going to be over $70K when done. My choice seems to come down to my perceived superior Toyota reliability vs getting a domestic 3/4 ton for about the same price or a little more for double the payload and almost twice the towing (example 6.7 powerstroke is max ~22,800 goose/5th).

I could be wrong, but I don't think the order system will work. I want to see the exact truck I am going to buy before I commit to it and I also don't want to wait 2-3 months in order to get the truck I want. What happens to the people who have a car that breaks down or ae in a wreck and need a new vehicle today? The whole just in time system is what got us in this mess in the first place, now they are going to a not till ordered system? Any kind of disruption with supply or a strike or whatever it might be will really hurt them whereas when they have stock, they can whether the storm a lot better.
