It definitely helps. I showed my wife that comparison plus the spec sheet comparing the different trims with different packages. She went from saying “maybe just get a lower trim with the packages” to saying “might as well just get the Pro since it’ll cost the same after adding packages”. So you definitely helped me.

I'm glad I decided to pull the trigger on my 21 Pro double cab. I paid MSRP with 0 dealer fees. Only option was the tailgate lock 51089 total. My reasoning was better safe than sorry. Thank goodness I followed my gut instinct. My original thought was to keep it a few years and then trade it in for the 23/24 Pro, now I'm not so sure.

To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I have a sale order in place but even with a projected increase, these prices are much higher than expected. I am awaiting some CAD numbers because if we were to do a straight USD to CAD conversion for the Platinum that the dealer had on the video (it had some additional options, but thinking that most allotment vehicles will probably be optioned as well, so I'll go with that) we would be looking at $83,500. Plus 13% tax in my province, and not including any other fees, it would be around $94k out the door . So do I buy some hunting land up north/ Quebec or get a Tundra....

One element that may be overlooked here.

Toyota may actually be trying to price competitively here. They may be forecasting that the domestics will be cranking their prices up, and banking that they can get away with doing the same. Incentives have disappeared for the domestics, so they're selling higher and higher right now. Toyota may be trying to keep pace.

They also may be forecasting that impact of chips, steel, and other raw materials are likely to surge in '22 and beyond - and padding their margins just in case. That way they're still at/around MSRP while the other manufacturers are either getting eaten alive by margin/wallstreet, or raising prices YoY.

    Yikes!

I was looking a little farther down the road, like maybe '23-'24. But the Limited CrewMax he shows is pretty much how I would configure a truck (with the addition of the 3" lift). Guess I need to start sockin' away my pennies.

I have to agree with some of the comments about prices being comparable to the big 3, I really don’t think the pricing is that bad. I understand why people are upset, for the last 10 plus years they have paid much less for a tundra and now Toyota has taken that away. I say to those people that were planning on waiting for a 22 and not happy about the price, go find a 21. I just looked up the 21 inventory and even if you pay sticker it’s still a great price compared to the 22. I think the inventory is super limited but some dealers still have a few on the lot. I’m also willing to bet the current gen will only go up in value from
    Here considering the price increase.

Same here, I'm waiting to see what pricing looks like in Canuckistan. From that video, it's looks like around $45K USD for a crew max SR5 4x4. Straight across conversion puts that at $56K CAD...before any options, taxes or fees. Forget it. I'll pay a bit more and buy a Sierra 2500HD with the gas engine.

Made an excel sheet comparing 21 and 22 pricing for every configuration. Averages out to a $5,212 increase, but Platinum and 1794 models are the biggest outliers making that number high. Without them the average is just over $4k.

Just doing what I can to set the record straight. Numbers don't lie! $3k-$7k increases is what I've been preaching for months now and people constantly told me I would be wrong. Turns out, I hit it pretty much exactly on the dot. Platinum and 1794 are a little over priced IMO, but still $60k base for the highest trim level you can get and it's $20k less than competitors top trims.

I agree, I was predicting a similar price increase in Canada. When I saw some of the US prices I did a direct add on for the US/CAD exchange and it was coming out at $10,000+ in increases north of the border. However, it looks like Toyota was not marking the vehicles up 20+% due to exchange rather they were closer. I will wait to see Canadian prices and specs on the unique models we get before criticizing Toyota (too much:). We are always far behind the US on everything.

Well the problem with wanting "everything" is there are like 100 accessories so I'm sure you could check every box and get close to $80k, but that would be absurd and no one would actually do that.

The Beaman video is the highest price I've seen on a 1794 so far. It had the Advanced Package (which I believe is the only thing you can add to 1794 package wise) and a bunch of accessories. Bottom line number including shipping was $67,474. Take out the dealer accessories and just leave what you can max out at from the factory and it's closer to $63k.

The problem is the absolute base MSRP is a configuration that no really truest wants or Toyota builds....... 99.8% of the trucks built will have some option in them. I guaranteed to get the absolute base model for a trim that will have to be a special allocation from a dealer and take lord knows how long......

Most of the people that are looking at Platinums to get the HUD, air ride rear, power running boards, etc..... are looking at $70k to get the packages and features that they want in an upper trim truck.

Toyota looks like they are adding more packages and options from the factory. Not quite like the domestics, but for sure more down those lines....

Toyota is by no means lying or fibbing about the MSRP, but I guaranteed if these were normal times and dealers had 20-60 Tundras sitting on the lot you would not see a single one meeting the criteria of the base MSRP posted.

Same thing goes with payload. They say up to 1,940 pounds, but in real life all these tundras come to the dealer between 1,300-1,500 and people are surprised. Toyota is not lying, but the Toyota that is 1,940 is pretty dang rare.

My only problem with this is the MSRP for Platinum 4x4 CrewMax is at $59,990. You're estimating an additional $10k for the Premium Package which cost $1,645 and Power Running Boards which cost $1,250. Where is the rest of that $10k going? It's not a $70k truck if you add those things, its a $63k truck. That's a big difference.

He probably thought that video was going to be received a different way. Not his fault…for months people have been sewing scraps together and getting dripped with information. It was ludicrous that Toyota did not release a price with the announcement of the models and that added fuel to the ongoing frustration. Looking through these boards, I think most people recognized that a factory increase in price was inevitable, but were hoping that they wouldn’t be gouged for price like most manufacturers were doing based on Toyota’s price history.

I can’t say why Toyota corp held out on price, but the fact that they did WHILE accepting sale orders speaks to me as “we [Toyota] will get people to a point of no-return excitement that once they see the price they will be in too deep and just go through with the purchase”. Unfortunately, excitement has sporadic at best with the far and few between announcements that had people asking more questions than have answers and they are seeing this being embodied with the public’s negative thoughts on price.

I feel bad for this salesman because he was doing us a service by sharing this info…something that Toyota corp has been withholding…and he is being crucified by the frustration most people have been voicing throughout this entire ‘journey’.

It’s pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. It’s just economic physics and corporate strategy. I personally believe they’ll sell every single one and it’s like they say in capitalism, it’s what the market will bear. Look at what the domestics have been generating for lesser quality vehicles for many many years. I personally won’t be gone that route because my 21 limited double cab is all I’ll ever need for over a decade. It’s a whole new abnormal in this world and I don’t see it going back. If I did buy new I’d still buy the Toyota anyway, at least they stand behind their products.

To be honest, I am not 100% sure what exact packages you Dan get it on.....

There was a build sheet posted for a Platinum and it was on there for $1,865 I believe.

Not sure where, but was posted yesterday I believe.

I'm hoping the inaccurate spec sheet is correct in this instance, with the coil overs in the rear and my new 8.5' x 24' enclosed race trailer I was hoping to get the air setup on the SR5.

Incorrect. 2021 limited 4x4 crew max msrp 48,000. So it’s a 4k increase. Why is this hard for so many?
