Thanks for doing the leg work here. I was wondering what the price increase would have been on previous generations compared to this one. All things considered, that makes this price jump not seem as bad.

Some of the dealer pricing for options are funny. 1,200 for a Tonno cover lol I hope Toyota has a good truck builder tool on there site soon to make this stuff make more sense. My biggest question is can you get the larger fuel tank with the sr5. And all the cameras? What exactly can’t you get that you need to to step up to the limited for.

These were the 2021 prices on their website. Those are some hefty increases.

    Are these 2WD models?

Your numbers are off because you are not adding in CrewMax 4x4. Here are the comparable 2021 numbers:

    SR5: $41,370 (+$4,435 increase)
    Limited $48,655 (+$3,245 increase)
    Platinum/1794: $53,145 (+$6,845 increase, +$7,545 increase)

Anyone have an SR5 build sheet with a cost listed for this package?

The off road premium package is $4,180 not the regular off road package.

That's way too many choices not to have a custom order system. How the hell is anyone going to end up with anything even CLOSE to what they want?

Crazy. Full disclosure: I paid $46k for my 2021 SR5 TRD Off Road (this had the SR5 upgrade package and the TRD Off Road package with factory bed liner and tailgate lock). I thought I did ok for buying during the pandemic. Not a steal, but not a terrible deal. Seemed fair.

If a '22 SR5 TRD Off Road costs 45,805 + 2,090, I don't see what the pricing fuss is all about. Even if you have to buy the Advanced Tech package in order to get the TRD Off Road package, this comes out to $50,385. To me, that's not a bad price for that truck.

it's honestly kind of amazing to me how much toyota has screwed up this entire truck in every aspect. massive price hike for what? a couple extra cameras and a few better mpg? they did absolutely nothing to the truck for damn near 14 years. how much money have they saved in that time by doing no real improvements to the truck and no real redesigns? and wasn't the whole point of the TNGA to reduce costs by saving engineering time and maximizing capability to build multiple models in the same plants

Alright, I'm taking a break. Will add more later because I know there is more info out there. Off-Road Premium is $4,180 and I haven't added that yet. I also included the markup amounts from 2021 to 2022. They all appear to be in the $3k-$7k range which is exactly what I said in the OG thread multiple times (one day you guys will start listening to me lol).

I 100% agree on this point, and it's why I'm glad that I'm going with a Pro. The only choices Toyota makes for me are exterior and interior colors!

Don't forget the destination fee thing that is $1,695 that makes base price really $47,500. I think the price is a little higher than I was hoping for but I agree it is not crazy considering its a redesign and they did similar increase for second gen from first gen.

That will work for a lot of folks but the only reason the Tundra made it to my list was the availability of a 6.5 foot bed in a crew cab.

I don't usually contribute much more than hate and discontent on the forum, so I'm glad you found that info useful! :hattip: It just adds a bit of perspective to the situation IMO.

So roughly $60k for a Limited TRD OR + advanced tech + moonroof + big screen + heated wheel + LEDs is stumbling into a platinum /1794 category, imo (with more/better features). For what is approximately a $5-6k increase from a 2020/2021 (pre-craziness).

Unless I'm wrong on the above, I dont really understand the meltdowns. I think given our current *ahem* situation, and that the truck is a re-design, with improvements in some areas.... not a bad price at all.

For what it's worth, just got a message from my salesman (guy who sold us our last 3 vehicles).

First words - "We have Tundra pricing! Definitely increased from prior model."

Says SR5, 4WD, CrewMax before any accessories is approximately $47.5K. I told him "Thanks, I'll sit tight with what I've got."

I have no doubt the new ones will sell, but I also have no doubt that they're going to lose more than a few potential customers and repeat customers from the crazy price increase. Prior to the pandemic one could obtain a basic 4WD CrewMax SR5 for about $37-$38K, so that's almost a $10K increase.

I dunno, I mean it kind of boils down to “be careful what you wish for”. Toyota gave us everything we asked for… that had consequences in the pricing.

    Also let’s not forget

one: they are in the business of making money and they don’t expect to sell more trucks than they do now so higher price on less units.

    Two: inflation

    Thanks for the info...

I'm in Canada so not familiar with the US packages and pricing.

    2021 TRD off-road pkg plus - $49,085
    2021 TRD trail edition. - $46,200

2022 SR5 TRD Off-raod -$47,895 ..........should bring this version in around $54,000 Canadian if Toyota has the same pricing formula between the 2 countries.

    Very confusing.

Depends on how one looks at it. I can see a bit of an increase, but $10K? That's a bit of a stretch, even given the current economic situation.

Thanks for the info everyone. I think the prices are expected and reasonable. The challenge is if you can find a vehicle that's not optioned up so high. All I need is SR5 4x4 crewmax w the big gas tank and maybe TRD OR. In the previous years at my local dealership that has been available with minimal options added on top. If I can find something like that, I'm good. So far, most of the spec sheets I've seen posted have a lot of added options. I wonder if that is specific to a certain region or dealer?

With that said...my salesman said "You'd be surprised what yours is worth."

For S&G's, when I go in next Tuesday for an oil change/rotation, I'll have them tell me what mine's worth, what a new one would cost, etc. 99.9% sure I'll say "Meh, no thanks." LOL

I'm sure they will. But the guys who can't wait and have to have the first one will get what they get and they can't get upset.

TFL on YouTube tried to buy a basic off-road and Toyota told them they could get them an off-road but they would have to check all the options boxes in order to get it before January. Probably due to it being a new model and the supply chain BS Toyota is only making off-roads right now with all the options since they know they will sell and they want to max their profits plus get better looking trucks on the road for free advertising. I'm waiting until at least June if I order an off-road, all depends on the final price here in Canada.
