that's correct, but the 5.7 in any configuration had the same hp/torque, that's the only reason why I pointed it out. just thought it was odd.

 

The problem is you can't compare previous prices like this anymore. This is a completely new model so there will always increase prices for this. With the amount of money that has been printed since 2019 we are lucky the price is not more. But this is higher than I though they would be.

 

... If these prices are anywhere near true... I guess my 10 year vision of owning my 2020 turned into 20 to 25 years.

I got my double cab sr5 2wd(no need for 4wd for me any time soon after living in Alaska) for 32500. I am curious as to where the new ones will start.

 

I wonder if they’re moving more to an incentives model like the domestics. Sticker for an SR5 is $55k, but various incentives and rebates bring it down to $48k or something. Higher sticker, but deeper discounts. It would be unprecedented for Toyota to play that game, sure. My other question is, if price increases are across the board, who is Toyota going to lose customers to due to pricing?

Maybe some will go for a more reasonably priced domestic HD gasser, but probably not most of us who daily drive our trucks.

I don’t see how an HD rig is an option for guys like me who drive their trucks daily and use them more for exploring, camping, and off-roading. I wouldn’t want to drive an F350 or a Sierra 2500 into Nashville, park it, and drive it home every day. I also couldn’t imagine taking it on the trails I’ve taken my Tundra on. I lovingly call my Tundra my “big ol fat girl” because I can’t seem to go much anywhere off pavement without getting a bit of pinstriping every time, but an HD truck? With that extra width, weight, length, wheelbase, and turning radius? No thanks at all. My Tundra is large, but she is nimble . I think Power Wagons and F350 Tremors look cool, but the whole off-road HD truck thing doesn’t make a lot of practical sense to me.

 

If these prices are accurate, I'm going to be looking for a 21 model 4x4 here in the next week or two. Maybe this hike in prices will again increase the older generations trade in value even higher again.

I get that prices are high right now but you guys are all talking like they're going to stay like this forever, which I just can't accept.

 

Would a DC SB 2500 with a ~145" wheelbase really be that much less maneuverable than a Tundra with a 145" wheelbase?

 

I DDed an '03 2500 Ram crew cab with an 8 foot bed for a while. Wasn't terrible aside from being a diesel. It turned better than the GM trucks at work that were more than a foot shorter length. Anyway, it's not bad DDing an HD truck, if it's the right one. They aren't any wider than a Tundra really. I am will you on the length and turning radius though. I'd much prefer the Tundra, but it can be done.

 

A ram 1500 is 82.1 inches wide with mirrors....The Ram 2500 which the power wagon is based width is 83.4..... The Tundra is 80.2 inches wide and the Tundra Pro is 81.6....not a ton of difference.

 

The prices are true that is a legit spec sheet from the dealer. Luckily this one isn’t doing markups so imagine what it will be when that starts happening

 

Pro numbers aren't out yet and they probably won't go over $65k. The current gen Pro is priced right where the Platinum/1794 are at, and both of those trucks MSRP is $61k for 2022.

The Tundra turning radius is 22-24.5. The Ram 2500 is 20-26...

 

Domestics all new price increases aren't as drastic because they get one ever couple years. Go on edmunds or something and pull up what a 2006 Tundra cost, and then look at the jump for a 2007. Here's what google shows.





About an 8k price jump, and it's because it's all new. Same-ish thing happening with the new trucks.

 

This truck? And its turning radius is quite a bit larger than the Tundra. The Tundra is smaller, and it also drives small for its size.

I’m not comparing my truck with domestic half-tons. My truck is 79.9 inches wide. That’s 3.5” narrower than the Ram 2500 (including the Power Wagon). Couple that with the extra wheelbase, length, much larger turning radius, and weight, and no thanks! I like my big ol’ fat girl who is far more nimble for her size than these bigger trucks.

 

MSRP for CrewCab SR5 $46k. That leaves you with about $7k in options and accessories which I think should be plenty to add whatever you want to it.

 

Exactly, anything over $55,000 Canadian for a TRD sport is ridiculous. I built a 2021 Silverado trail boss with the 6.2 and 10 speed transmission for $50,000 this morning. Not sure if you can get one with the 22 redesign coming for chev but if the Silverado stays close to $50,000 cad for that model and the tundra is $10,000 more I’ll take the chev.

 

Just compared the Canadian prices on 21 models.
Seems odd but 21 TRD trail edition is $46,200 in usd and $51,600 in Canada. It appears Toyota isn’t adding the difference in the dollar directly to the us price. $46,200 would be $57,500 Canadian so perhaps there is hope for us in Canada. If a 22 TRD SPORT in the US is $51,000 then it might be $57,000 in Canada. Someone at Toyota should be fired for this roll out.

 

I’ve seen a few posts about wanting the off road pkg and others wanting the sport.

Anyone able to compare/contrast? Using small words.

 

A watered down unreliable Chevy with cloth seats and a screen that's smaller than my phone. You'll get way more with the Tundra.

 

Short review, TRD Offroad gets Bilstein shocks, rear locker, multi-terrain select, crawl control, etc. TRD Sport is only available on the SR5 and gets a slightly lowered street tuned suspension. Both get TRD wheels and grille and the Sport gets color-matched grille surround.

This truck will be the main family vehicle for errands and road trips. Also will be the ‘farm’ truck so needs some non pavement potential. Would either of those pkgs be better than the other for my use case?

I believe the OR on the SR5 gets 18" wheels and the Sport and all other OR packages get 20" wheels.

Sport will definitely be worse due to being lowered and having 20" wheels.

 

Keep in mind that the pricing on packages and certain options is model dependent. Eg the pricing on SR5 heated steering wheel is $320 vs $150 on Limited, likewise with the TRD Offroad packages ($2090 SR5 vs. $3085 Limited).

There is also a trd off road premium package for SR5 to get softex and some of the heated seats for $4,180

 

SR5 with the TRD Off Road package would be my vote for those needs. I wonder if the SR5 includes the "Advanced Technology" package with the larger fuel tank.

**this is hard to believe; wasn't the TRD Off Road package on the 2nd gens like $4k? It included TRD LED headlights, Bilstein shocks, fuel tank skid, front "splash guard" (even Toyota knows that's not a skid plate ), dual climate. Now with the 3rd gen, it includes terrain select, crawl control, a rear locker, etc, and it's cheaper by ~50%?

In my experience, fewer electronics and less tech is a good thing with GM vehicles. Almost every issue I've had with our older Suburban and now Yukon XL is electronics related. That 6.2/10speed drivetrain from GM is awesome, even if somewhat problem-ridden. After driving one, I was tempted to take my chances with it. But ultimately I chose the Tundra's reliability like every other person here.
