We've got a LG OLED it'll be hooked up to and I want to say I already upgraded my cables when we bought the TV. I'm really looking forward to it and the new Forza.

 

Is that where you pay the $200 for the “service fee”? I’ve been trying to pick up another one for a while and they are never online anymore.

 

No service fee but they add 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. It is 0% for 24 months and you can pay it off early, which I plan on doing.

If you look at them on bestbuy.com you'll see a little blue banner above it that says "Xbox All Access Pass Available". Click on that and it should tell you if it's available.

 

That's not bad then for the 2 years of Gamepass. Save about $130 from buying it normal. Humm..

 

I read that the last Best Buy PS5 restock was only for TotalTech members which is a $200 annual membership. Anyone know if this will be the case going forward?

This is how I got both my Xbox series x's. My son and I were going to get ultimate anyways so this was easier. Plus, we did this with the one x last year and only paid 1 year before they allowed me to upgrade to the series x. So we paid roughly 380 for each one X and when I upgraded they never gave me any info on how to return the one X's which was part of the deal. So now we have a closet with 2 360's, 2 one X's and 2 ps4's. If you finish the 2 year contract then your ultimate goes back to a month to month but I believe you get it discounted.

 

I got my xbx for free. Back when they first released my son ordered one through Amazon and when it arrived they dropped off two. Not sure who is still waiting for theirs to show up.

Dont believe it's completely true, same was said about their gpu restocks but I was able to get a gpu without the totaltech memebership when they restocked on the 21st of last month. supposedly they only did the totaltech requirement on a single drop pretty far back.

 

Yeah that's why I was asking as I have $200 in gift cards/rewards. Obviously my preference is just to get one and use the gift cards toward it, but if the TotalTech membership will somewhat guarantee me one then Ill just buy a membership and go from there. Still better than scalper pricing, and the gift cards would offset having to pay out of pocket for the membership and a console. But I'd only want to commit if it's a sure thing going forward.

Nice! I would have preferred a 3080 (ti or otherwise) myself, but my good ol GTX 1070 crapped out on me back in January (I think Cyberpunk killed it) and I grabbed the first available 3000 series card that became available. I think it was 2 weeks of pain using an old GTX 560Ti from 2010 that I had in storage when an RTX 2060 Super became available at normal price, which I grabbed in a heartbeat while I waited on a bunch of wait list requests I submitted to several online retailers for an RTX 3000 series card. The first of which was an RTX 3070 (also normal price) that I didn't hesitate on, then I kicked the 2060 down to my son.

I had 3 more become available shortly after, all 3070s, but sadly a 3080 never became available. I was tempted to grab one of the 3070s and be scum and sell it for markup, but... I'm not scum lol.

 

Ye honestly the 3080 Ti isn't a great value, I would have preferred to get a regular 3080 but they went out of stock while I was in the online queue for one. I got through for the Ti but even that one was a hassle to get into my cart for local pick up since I kept getting the not available for 250 miles bug. At this point it's really become a get what you can if it's available for MSRP so I ain't complaining too much but my wallet is lol.

 

For sure. And that sounds like Best Buy to me. I had something similar happen several times when I was trying to get my hands on any 3000 card from bestbuy.com while I was waiting for my reservations. But I never got a hold of one from them, it always failed for me.

Although I still put aside money and had every intention of getting a 3080Ti if one became available, but in the long run things worked out better as I ended up grabbing a 3070 gaming laptop in addition to the 3070 desktop GPU for not much more than what the 3080Ti was going for. So now I can game in the living room while the wife watches her shows. I still do wonder what kind of FPS I could'a hit at above 120Hz refresh if I'd gotten a 3080Ti. Still, I've been able to hit high 90s/low 100s at 144Hz on Far Cry 6 on high settings so I'm happy enough.

 

Mass Effect Legendary went on sale on Steam. Finally grabbed it, so add another one to my library that I'll probably never get around to playing.

Xbox came in early but BestBuy screwed up the digital release of Forza. The codes weren't emailing out - I was finally able to get a customer service person to give me my code over the phone. Game looks really good on the series x and OLED. I can't believe how fast this machine loads games.

 

Just replayed Thief. Kinda like Splinter Cell. I wish they made more sneak-around games like this.

Moved the old X up to the bedroom when I got the new console. Was getting irked last night at the controller. Guess it is worn out…

Anyone get Forza Horizon 5? The map is absolutely HUGE.

Glad you got it working. I've been there a handful of times with Best Buy. For a company that advertises their tech geekyness, you'd think they'd get digital downloads right by now. And I swear I feel like Ron Swanson every time I walk in a Best Buy to pick up hardware.

Gonna have to checkout this latest Forza. I haven't played Horizon since 2.

I'm being enticed by you guys to grab Forza. Good thing it's XB Studios. I don't yet have an XB Series, but it's available on PC/Steam.

 

Im a bigger fan of gran turismo, but have an xbox at home(and forza 7). I dont care for the mod multipier. Career is fine, but its more fun to build your own races using underdog cars. Lemme know if you want my xbox handle to see me stomp all of b-class and most of a-class in a low-b-class 3800 lb supercharged crown vic @ road atlanta. And i think ive done better than 9 min on the nordschlief in that car.
