Anyone have experience with coachbuilder tie rods?

I am currently running Fox 2.5” RR up front with SPC UCA’s. The alignment shop has maxed out the theeads in my passenger side tie rod and it’s providing negative caster.. (truck is pulling ever so slightly)

Would CB tie rods fix this issue?

I spoke to him yesterday and he said it should help. Was hoping to use this forum to hear about others experiences.

My current issue is that I have trd pro wheels with 60mm offset and his tie rods are only compatible with 25mm or less

Who is doing your alignment? Something just doesn't sound right. Do you have a alignment sheet you could post?

See below. Biggest concern is the shop said the tie rods were on their last threads.. and as soon as I knock this current setup out of spec, it’s gona be hard to correct it

Judging by this list, you either elected for a toe only alignment or this tech at this shop hasn’t a clue.

what is the delta over stock ride height?

I have the same wheels and the TRD Pro kit from coachbuilder, which happens to come with his steering kit…and it aligned to factory specs perfectly fine.

pardon my ignorance, but I’m going to assume the shop doesn’t have a clue granted I have a minimal lift and aftermarket UCAs

    roughly 2.5”

Tie rods are used to adjust the toe, which yours look fine. Seems like you need more of an LCA cam adjustment to get more positive caster.

good to know. I guess the shop I used wasn’t able to figure that out? I’ll see if I can find somewhere else

But by adjusting for more positive caster the toe will be more inward so the tie rods would need to be readjusted outward, and maybe this is where your shop is stating that its maxed out on the tie rod?

Something along those lines. And for that reason, the tie rods aren’t long enough or they are too long?

Take it to a shop that knows how to adjust the SPC upper control arms. I dealt with the same issue for over a year. Even talked to the shop about getting the coachbuilder tie rod ends to fix the issue. They adjusted the SPC's and aligned it with the stock tie rods ends without issue.

so here is my concern, i mean we all like to spend each other’s money around here, but I’d really hate to see you spend money and not get the results you expect.

So for alignment with the given height of approximately + 2.5 over stock (unknown wheel spec) and a straight chassis. Knowing that these SPCs have quite a bit of adjustability for both camber and caster, I’d expect for the alignment tech to center up the lower eccentric bolts and a neutral position for the SPC ball joint and go from there.

I’d say shoot for (operation in the order) a caster of +3-4, camber of 0 maybe a touch of negative, then OEM toe specs.

to me it sounds like they sucked the lowers in with the eccentrics which would cause massive toe out and they attempted to correct via shortening the tie rods and ran out of adjustment because it is bottomed out?

This is where mine landed when all said and done, sitting about 1” taller in the front. Keep in mind this is a TRD Pro though so overall about 3” taller than stock.
