Warn Winch Question

I just picked up this Warn winch off of a Ram Power Wagon for next to nothing. From what I gather it is just a m12000 thats motor has been swapped to the opposite side. I was curious if anyone more knowledgeable about winches than myself might know of a bumper mount that this would work in?

 

That’s a universal layout for winches of that size for almost every winch manufacturer. You can measure the spacing of those holes and check the specifications on the winch bumper you are looking at for confirmation

 

the clutch lever is what I would assume would give me issues. It being on the opposite side and it looks oversized from the M12000. That being said, I have never mounted one so I dont know where they usually sit in original configuration. The mounting holes are common from what I can tell at 10x4.5

 

I would think that if you can access and operate the clutch lever, it wouldn’t matter where it’s located, guess I’m not really helping you here

 

Im not really sure how the clutch is accessed in the bumper/hidden mounts.

 

Im guessing that is just because the motor is reversed? I figured I could swap the bottom (spool containing rods?) to the front, flip the winch around, flip the wiring box(as its just held in place with band clamps), and then it would be feeding from the bottom?

 

With several models of hidden winch bumpers, the guys have made small cutouts in the grill for access. My situation doesn’t apply to your problem since I have the fully wireless remote controlled warn winch

 

Yup, looks to be a m12000 or one specifically made for dodge. Had one myself and sold it due to impracticality. Those are what are considered large frame winches and you will have a very difficult time finding a bumper for the tundra that’ll fit it. The road armor bumper claims that one will fit but I just don’t see it happening. You can rotate the clutch leveler by unbolting the planetary housing and rotating to wherever you need it to be and then reassemble. Nice thing about those winches is you can upgrade to the 6hp motor off of the 9.5xp and it’ll give you right around 15000 lb winch. Way overkill for a tundra application but still pretty sweet.

 

I was wondering how they got that big sob in the bumper. I was suprised at the size when I picked it up. As I just paid 350$ for it I may just throw it on a hitch mount and have it available. May weld a a receiver on my trailer so I can just interchange it. Or may sell it and get the Zeon I been eyeing. Just felt like I shouldnt pass it up for that price.

 

I think you made a good purchase and have some good options.
On past trucks I have fabricated reciever mounts for my winch. There’s pros and cons to this.

 

Yup, you’re on the right track. I was planning on putting it on a hitch mount too. Use it in the front/back/trailer but the thing is freaking heavy; even with synthetic line.

 

Do you happen to know if this one can be ran on a jump box without issue?

 

That I don’t know that answer for sure as I don’t know the jump pack specs, but these winches draw a ton of current so it’d have to be pretty powerful jump box. A standard m12000 can draw up to 440 amps
