The small tank was pathetic and should have never been an option on a truck with poor mpg. Many consumers when buying a truck would never even consider what tank was installed. Doing the same for the new truck, in my opinion, is just a way to achieve and inflated payload number.

The new GMs all have 24 gallon tanks. Sure, they get better fuel economy empty than the 2nd Gen Tundra but 10 mpg when you're towing is going to suck.

That was my issue towing with my Tacoma. With only a 20 gallon tank and 10mpg when towing I carried a jerry can when I towed. After a couple of hours you better start looking for fuel.

Sorry bub, hands are staying up. Both of those GM interiors SMOKE the old and new Tundra something fierce. Doesn't mean I won't buy a Tundra but have to be honest. Too bad Ram put that stupid, giant, bathroom mirror looking iPad crap in theirs or it would beat all of them.

Only thing I like better in the platinum/ 1794 than the Silverado/ sierra is the display integration. Too bad the domestics will be warped from the factory, made of cheap plastic, rattle after 10k and fade HARD

I will say the GM interior is fancier and looks more luxurious to me, but the Tundra interior looks more practical and easier to use. I feel like if I were driving the GM truck, I would be looking down searching for buttons to push all the time. The Tundra looks more like I could just reach and push whatever I needed without much searching. GM just looks overly complicated.

Thats what I noticed when I test drove the F150 - everything kind of rattled and seemed cheaply put together whereas the Tundra just felt solid.

Depends on one's POV. One of the many reasons I bought a 2020 Tundra over an F150/Sierra/Silverado/etc., is because the interior is nowhere near as 'busy' as others. Don't get me wrong - I *like* the interiors, especially the Sierra's, personally....but it factors about 0.01% of my decision to buy a truck.

That's exactly what I thought, and during the test drive my wife said as much. She said "Y'know, the other vehicles have a lot of *stuff* everywhere. This just....feels like a truck. Simple interior, well laid out, etc."

I guess Im in the minority, I dont feel like my tundras interior is "well laid out" at all. no backlighting on switches or gauges , way too much down by the knees behind the wheel, no storage at all in the cab, one USB that is kinda underneath the ledge, etc

and the quality and matching of materials in my 2016 platinum is really bad for a truck that over 50K

yeah I don’t understand it either. The radio controls and HVAC controls are perfect but if I want to to do a usb, tow/haul, mirror adjust, cargo light, interior light, or rear window I have to tilt my head and lean.

And my 21 is about as on par with any other car I’ve driven as far as quality. I have door panel creak, my shifter needed Teflon tape, my circle vents seem to pop out an 1/8 inch, my shifter console is misaligned.

I never had good luck with the powertrains in Gm but the interiors were pretty solid and functional.

Don't forget the plastic scratches if you look at it funny, I would rate Toyota about average or a little below when it comes to interior materials....and paint they would get a below average for me....you don't even have to look at the paint funny...lol

THere are non marketing photos of the interior of the new Tundra and it looks like that same purplish black plastic so I bet it's going to scratch just as easily. The paint i haven't noticed anything. I've owned a Nissan Maxima and a Nissan GTR. Want to talk about shit paint, Nissan has really soft and thin paint.

Most North American made vehicle use basically the same paint. I worked at a Honda assembly plant in the paint department.

Paint has only been an issue on the Nissan. I had a mark on it delivered from the rail and the dealer absolutely marred the paint. Buffer burn and holograms like crazy. I get it was inexperience but when I even tried to correct it, it was just soft.

also had the most highway use destroyed bumper of any car I’ve owned.

I chipped the paint at a car wash using the sprayer on light. I get all paint is not as it used to be given the water based epa standards. But nissan is in its own standards league

I've been away for the weekend travels but just did some catching up, here are my various points:

The top trims won't sniff $70k MSRP

    $60-65K for Pro is accurate

The watered down color configurator is back live on the website again

I do believe we get full pricing information by Thanksgiving

Dealers are getting allotment numbers right now on the December non-hybrid shipments and starting the put reserves on them

Markups are unfortunate but there are places that won't do them (all 3 dealers in my city have confirmed this), just keep looking and be willing to travel for a better deal

Has anyone got rough confirmation on when the hybrids will ship? Thus far I have heard December/ Jan and March/ April- this seems to be driven by the pro release date and assumption that other hybrids follow suit.

Maybe it's wishful thinking on my part, but I think you're right. I'm starting to wonder if this is why pricing keeps getting delayed. They're still negotiating with suppliers to see how cheap they can sell it. I still think this will be a better truck long term than the American counterparts, but the reception has pretty much been universal- that it doesn't stack up on paper to the competition out of the gate.

If they want to make this a success, I think they need to make it the value preposition. Sell it for less and make the case it's going to be more reliable.

They may use the same paint, but prep and actual execution to the application of that paint varies...and Toyota is not at the top of its class there. I have owned vehicles from every major manufacturer over the years, Ford, Nissan, Jeep, Chevy, GMC, Toyota, Subaru....Toyota does some things better than others, and some things not so much. But you don't buy a toyota for the paint and interior, you buy it so that it keeps running and running for many miles. Sometimes that is important in a car purchase, sometimes not so much...

I too am waiting for a hybrid. It's tough knowing that we still have another 5 months probably before we get them. I'm just ready to order and have a delivery date I can look forward to all winter lol

I’ve heard the same paint complaints on the white Tacomas being very soft. I’ve seen then come in with paint defect from bug hits that the owners complain about.

Just because you had an issue with your Nissan does mean Nissan has a paint issue.

Nah Nissan had a big paint issue. Look at the forums. A lot of the vans, altimas and especially versas have issues. Nissan is known for extremely soft paint. It’s no secret. Hell every 10 year old Nissan I see has that dreaded hood fade or roof pool.

i mean Nissans been sued, more than once, for pain related issues. But I guess it wouldn’t be a 22 thread if there was no silly ass off topic argument “uh uhh”

The white paint is soft, very soft in fact. I scratched mine to the primer using a toothpick to weed out the Plasti-dip from my emblems.
