My truck came with the TRD exhaust, after having it for 85,000 miles, I would not buy it for what it costs. The first 15,000 miles it did have the helicopter sound around 50-55 mph which is where I spend a good chunk of my daily driving. Now, I hardly notice it at all unless I purposely try to. It has gotten very quiet to me. It sounds good, but if I were to spend that much money, I would want to hear it a little more. The only time I really notice it it when towing going up hills and then it gets a little annoying after a couple hours.

Oh shoot! Well that definitely makes my decision easier. Just gotta come up with the funds before this current DDI deal ends.

I would highly recommend DD. I have had the 8” for about a year and half. Still love it everyday! It lives up to all the hype. No resonator for me, wouldn’t want to sacrifice any of that sweet sound. Even my three teenage boys with their straight piped chevys say the old mans truck sounds bad ass. And mines way faster too! Lol

....here’s another analogy I thought of

When I ran the 8, it was not obnoxious (or even close to it) but you knew there was an aftermarket exhaust installed. The 12 could “borderline” pass for a factory performance option.

I have the TRD Pro exhaust and absolutely love it. I think it sounds very nice. However, as everyone else has mentioned, @dirtydeeds is the go to. BAM sounds very nice as well and Keith supports this community. If I ever have to replace my exhaust, BAM is my route.

Just my $.02 but you honestly can’t beat dirty deeds warranty and his customer service. And supporting a self made business in the USA made up my mind. I have the 10in and have never regretted it for a minute, worth every penny.

Unless you really like the dual side exit of the trd system, the DD sounds better

I went with Dirty Deeds 8'' no resonator and the drone is minimal. Family falls asleep just fine on long road trips. You can hardly hear it while cruising on the highway, but when you step on it oh man!!! It sounds fucking awesome! I suggest the 8'' and you can always switch it out with Dirty Deeds. I believe Keith still offers his awesome exchange policy.

This system is a direct bolt on replacement for your Trd system. It uses Trd tailpipes, which you already own. It’s has an x pipe built in for better low end torque, and it completely removes ALL of the helicopter sound. Hand built custom mufflers make the system as aggressive or as quiet as you’d want.the Helmholtz resonators gets rid of the drone. Give a call for details and to place your order. http://dirtydeedsindustries.com/product/trd-replacement-system/

I would then recommend the 10 if you’re choosing between both of those. You will love it when it turns on for the first time.

How much difference is there with a 10" that has a resonater, and a 12" that doesn't?

The 12” without resonator will drone way more than the 10” with.

Speaking from experience, the 12 inch without resonator drones more than the 8 inch with the resonator.

If you had to compare your 10 and 12 systems to the flowmasters, which ones would they be. Just trying to get an idea

Depends on the series of flowmaster.

the 6” system is like a 44. The budget system is like an outlaw. The 10” is like the suv muffler.

I know this is sacrilege, but curious... Have you ever built a bolt on standard system using another muffler - like a flowmaster?

Don’t torch me - just wondering.

I’ve tried all other brands. It would actually be less expensive for me to just use an off the shelf muffler instead of making my own from scratch. But then the options aren’t there for people. And the drone control goes out the window. And some mufflers actually lose power instead of gaining power.

"Some" of us have bought other exhaust components/systems. After spending a few hundred extra bucks,"some" of us contacted Keith at Dirty Deeds and had a custom catback system, hand built, with a lifetime sound warranty, that'll only cost shipping for a replacement. We ain't getting service like that with ANY off the shelf exhaust systems, most of which are designed for push rod engines. Keith will explain the difference, buy the best and the right system the first time.

    I’m just bantering.
