Let me make sure they work first then I will provide you with detailed instructions.

 

I'm using the default coolant temp data stream as well and it seams to behave as expected.

These two trans temp streams are obviously not measuring engine coolant. The coolant temp reaches operating temperature then holds. The trans pan stream reaches about 186°F and doesn't fluxuate very much after that. The trans torque converter temp reaches 186°F at constant speeds on flat ground and holds, but it will spike to 216°F for very short intervals when I pass someone or drive up a steep hill. Then it drops back down to 186-190°F when it appears that the transmission thermostat opens.

Also:
- The pid labeled trans pan temp is never greater than the pid labeled Torque Converter temp which would confirm that I don't have them switched.
- Both temps also begin at ambient temperature each morning.
- The trans pan temp only changes gradually. It doesn't jump up or down quickly regardless of the operating conditions.

After my initial test drive I used an infrared temp gun on the trans cooler supply line and on the outside of the trans pan. The readings were pretty close to the Torque Pro pid values, but I don't know that they are exact. (I found the pid info on a 4Runner forum so I don't know what process was used to create the equation in these pids, but they seem pretty close if they aren't exact.)

I'm including a picture showing the pan, converter and coolant temp after a short drive. The engine was up to operating temp, but the transmission hadn't warmed up all the way yet when I took the picture. You can see that all three are showing different temps here.

From the Torque Pro home screen tap the gear icon at the bottom left of your screen. -> Settings ->Manage extra PIDs/Sensors.

Tap the screen menu at the top right of the screen (looks like three dots aligned vertically) -> Add Custom PID

Tap "Okay" then enter the values listed in my other post.

"OBD Header to use", "Diagnostic start command" and "Diagnostic stop command" are all left blank. "Overrides PID" is left as "Does not override any PID"

After everything is entered, if you're connected to the OBDII reader you can tap "Test" to see if it's correct or you can tap "Save" and check it later by adding the display to your dashboard.

The Long Name and Short Name fields can be whatever you want. The long name shows up in the PID list when you're selecting a new display for your dashboard. The short name shows up on the display (gauge) face. Neither affects the measurment number value produced by the PID.

To add the other PID repeat.

 

I found a really long list of other PIDs on the 4Runner forum, but not all of them work on my truck. Once I sort out which ones work I'll add the entire list.

Maybe there should be a sticky Torque Pro PID reference thread once I sort out that list so everyone can find it more easily.

I was already using those PID's. Also have a 3rd one too. But I normally get the same temp as the coolant. So wasn't sure it was working. Very rarely tow aoaybe it doesn't fluctuate much from the coolant temp

@n2deep Those temps are not exactly matching. Maybe you are reading the correct temps?

Are these temps from the PIDs I posted? If so check your equation entry. There may be an error like a misplaced parentheses or a missing zero (40 instead of 400, etc).

 

Is this your chevy? Those are cool temps

 

The ones you posted I already had programmed and that is what I was using but they are always the same. The pic i posted they were off by a degree but only for a second and then they both showed the same temp. Never tested it while towing so it could be correct. Not sure what the others are cause they are way off.

NO I never thought to check and make sure they matched I just threw some random shit in there and hoped a rainbow unicorn would sort all the chit out.

First of all, thanks for this! Your instructions were spot on. I was able to add the Tranx pan and tranx Torque converter. However, this is what I get:



one caveat, I had the ignition ON, but the engine not running. It looks like I am not getting correct Tranx Pan. Also, I am not receiving AIR TEMP. I did not get a chance to start the engine. I will try that tomorrow, maybe it will make a difference. This is really wierd though, I am getting completely different results than @n2deep:

He's not getting correct temps for either of the PIDs you listed. I suppose there must be a difference in the different BT code readers since all three of us are running the same app.

 

Ok so while driving to work I was able to test them out. Transmission converter was showing a constant 132.1 and sometimes changes to 133.0 briefly. Transmission pan was constantly fluctuating with wild numbers; sometimes 400 sometimes 20 and everything in between. Its obviously not accurate. I am not convinced converter is accurate either since it never changed. It was even 132.1 before I started the truck.

Intake air temp seems to be accurate as it was matching my dash temp and changed when I left the garage and it the air got colder.

Ambient air temp is not pulling.

Engine coolant started at 180 something once the the truck was warm. It stayed that way during a 10 min drive through the city. but when I got on the freeway it went to a steady 200. even thought the gauge did not move. This seems high and I am not sure its accurate either.

all in all I am not sure what to make of this. What good are gauges if you don't trust the readings? lol

 

I will look at what PID's I am using for coolant and trans temp to verify, but I haven't had a lot of time. Maybe I can find a few minutes this weekend and snap a pic but I will be off-roading and a bit busy having fun. Plus I have new toys to install.

 

We just got back from a 3500 mile trip in the Western US. We saw high ambient temps as high as 106* and numerous climbs of 7+%. This is the first pull with the trailer, 6500lbs with an auxillary transmission cooler in series with the stock cooler. I can report that this set up, two coolers and the thermostat pinned open, is the mack daddy for keeping this tranny cool. The highest torque converter temp I saw was 222*, and the highest pan temp was 194*. Most of the time, on the steepest long climbs the TC temps would just break over 200* and the pan temps never got out of the 180s. On the flat and level, at about 90* ambient, temps were running about 160-164*. I pull at 60mph and I'm in S-4 while towing. Steeper climbs I will drop down to S-3. I now can say that the Tundra is a good tow vehicle.

 

Ive been wanting to monitor my Temps but cannot find a obd reader for my truck that works with ios (iphone 7).
I have tried the search function and nothing pulls up. Have yall had any luck with iphone compatibility?

 

What aux cooler did you buy? Show some pics of your mounting.
