That is Ivanpah, solar facility. I work for the same company and that is one of our plants, I work at a plant in California but have visited that plant and climed up those boilers to catch the view. They look small in the picture but they are extremely tall. Theres actually 3 plants there and I want to say around 60,000 mirrors (heliostats) per plant I think. It was backed by several companies including a large amount by Google. Pretty amazing plant.

 

That's a pretty cool looking plant. Whats the megawatt output on those units? I'm a power plant operator myself. Only downside is no matter how "green" you go someone on will find a reason why its horrible... I've read environmentalists don't like plants like these because they fry birds to a crisp that fly through the reflected sun rays.

I know right. It's a nice Tacoma looks good. Kinda made me miss mine. But when I fired up mine and heard that V8 I was over it.

Yeah, we saw that driving from Santa Barbara to Colorado a few years ago. Another new thing I saw was some kind of way to use solar to heat shallow water. I forget how that works.

 

Best show in years and top 10 out of over 300 shows. If you can catch PRIMUS on the current tour definitely do it. Sean Lennon and the Claypool Delirium was a nice additive.
