Cant have anything nice is what i always say. A while back my son moved a two wheel dolly then climbed it next to my truck and it fell into the truck and put a nice dent in the back quarter panel. I was standing right there in the garage working on something and i got mad for a second then just had to laugh about it in my mind.

Oh damn that's nuts. Yeah I l I've how they justify. There's a dent but bc truck is white there's no dent. Kids. My 2 boys are destroyers.

 

I feel your pain. My truck is the first of my vehicles that I have really cared about. My wife always tells me "it's a truck it's supposed to have scratches and dents" although this may be true, it doesn't make it any easier.

 

Ahh it'd be 1 thing if it was a work truck for my own business, however I don't have my own business anymore and I sure as he'll wouldn't have got a pro if it was. I wouldn't care if it was only a work truck. Although I use it like a truck pulling heavy trailers and take off-road, I didn't buy this model to beat the shit out of it. I'd buy a beater for that. To me this 1 is different.

 

I totally agree with you. I never said I agree with what my wife says haha! I baby my truck. I had to load it up with dirt and bags of cement this weekend for a backyard project. You better bet it got a good wash as soon as I was done.

 

I don't blame you, I too even keep the bed neat. I was hesitant at first not wanting to scratch up even my spray liner. But I've gotten over it and don't care as much anymore. Just want to keep the in and out nicey nice now.

 

That's pretty much where I'm at too. I got the Linex premium with a lifetime warranty. My local shop says they cover everything, so if I take a chunk of bed liner off with a shovel or something they fix it for free. Gives me piece of mind when sliding something in the bed.

 

I beat the crap out of my '06 double cab and it still looked good the day I traded it 10 years later. In some ways it was a better truck than this current model. much tougher paint, thicker metal (or so it felt), better seats, better gearing, better stock motor sound, better stock handling, etc. not to mention those were the days when 'double cab' meant 'double cab'. not this mamby pamby nonsense of a half door being called a double cab! yes sir men were men, women were women and double cabs were 4 full doors of truck space!

 

I ran into a guy today that I use to work with. Has a 1st gen with 304k on it. Runs great and still looked great. So I hear ya. I was kinda surprised the amount of damage I got. It put a mean dent in the A pillar.

 

Alright guys as promised I went to the dealerships service center where I use to work and found out the damage to repair. I'm actually very happy considering what I thought originally going to cost. I was told to remove the dents in the A pillar and the hood it would cost me 220. I don't know if that's because of my previous connection there. I was told that was there cost 200 plus 10% like an employee. They will try to buff out scratch on hood but they don't do paint work so if it don't come out which I'm pretty certain both won't the 1 will be left as a battle scar. Hope this helps you guys.

Just like the trampoline, the bat was garbage too. It already had dents in it and was just laying around and I grabbed that one on purpose knowing it was no good. I never would have broke his bat or trampoline if they were still useable. My son has about 10 different size bats, it was the 1 he had 2 years ago with dents. The trampoline I was going to get rid of last week. Looks like I was 1 week too late. I also explained it to him that I never would have done those things if they both weren't garbage, that I didn't handle it the best way, but it is important to get out that anger, like heavy bag or pushups ect. Tried to make the best of it and use it as a teaching moment. Explained I'm not perfect either and make mistakes sometimes too. Between us looking back on it was pretty funny though. If it fixes up pretty decent for 200 bucks you guys can put me up for overreaction of the year award.

 

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago when i still had a tacoma. The wind blew a basketball hoop onto my hood. I claimed it through auto. i got a new hood because they couldnt get the dent out.



I would have done the same type of thing to the basketball hoop except it wasn't mine it was my cousins. But it made me sick to my stomach to look at it. But looked great when it was all fixed up.

 

I hear ya. It's a kick in the nads when something outside of your control does ya dirty like that. My eyes go right to it everytime I see my truck since it happened. I got to wait til Wed next week to see what they can do. I got my fingers crossed that they can at least make the dents disappear. I've been eyeing that southern style off-road slimline bumper with the light bar and adding a smittybuilt winch to it. I might just pull the trigger on it to help me get over the scratch. Lol.

 

For those of you members with dents in your A pillar, thought this might help. $213 to remove dents there and hood by my PDR guy, he's awesome.

 

Yeah sorry can't help out there but if anyone in NJ and needs a guy I got a good 1. I couldn't believe he got the A pillar out. The hood was easy, but the A pillar, he blew me away. And for 200, I couldn't be happier. I can very barely tell, anyone else would never know.

I can't say they don't deserve to make a good living when they perform magic like he did. Deserves every penny he makes. I gotta believe my connection of previously working there I got off easy. They work in wholesale and bill the service dept. He showed me the cost 200 and charged me just that. I can't even believe he was able to get them out in that location nevermind the cost to it. In retrospect definitely overreacted. Got caught up in the moment when I watched it happen.

That's what gets me about mine. They can be so smart at times, for ex getting out of doing work, homework, trouble, ect. Then at other times say and do some very unintelligent things. My dad use to call it, "stupid stupid stuff" lol.

 

Slighlty off topic but is it just me, I find myself saying to my children all the same sayings that I couldn't stand to hear my father say to me. Ie, your gonna be dumb u better be tough. Lol

That sucks balls. I would have been pissed too. I hate trampolines even though my wife and kids got one against my better judgement i still hate them. Mainly because they are dangerous for kids. Its like a toy that you play with untill you get hurt. Its not a matter of if you will get hurt its just when and how bad. Because eventually any kid who plays on one long enough will get hurt in some way. Maybe not bad but atleast a sratch. Just dont like them. An they are known to fly off and break shit as you now know. I say fix the truck with insurance. By the kid a new bat and tell them this is what you dont do when you get mad. Ha and never allow another trampoline back in your yard again. First chance i get im hauling mine to the dump. Kids want a new swimming pool im gonna tell them they can have the pool or trampoline and ditch the pos soon as i get a chance and put up a new pool. Jmo sorry dude!
