^ This is a huge factor in my tipping..
I ALWAYS carry cash, especially when going out.
I'll write a big 0 on the tip of the CC receipt and give them a cash tip.
If they want to part it out, so be it.

Also when I have to run a bar tab and they want a CC, I'll tell them ahead of time 'I'll probably pay cash instead of using the card'.
When it's time to cut the tab I'll pay the tab and tip in cash...

If it's a place I frequent occasionally, I'll tip a little in advance when I get there, be it bartender or waitress.
Gets me priority over the ham and eggers in the crowd.
Waitress comes by faithfully and I never have to look for her.
Bartender tends my needs the minute they see me at the bar....:D

I need to look into this.
I do 95% of the cooking for the wife and I.
We only see each other on the weekends because of our work schedule (helps make a successful marriage by the way).

I'd love a good knife like this.
I'd just have to hide it from her to keep her from using it to chop up the dog food (she cooks every night for the dogs), throwing it the sink, then sticking it the dishwasher.

Many of the best times of my life over the years has been sitting around a campfire.
Crackling fire, the smell of the wood burring, the natural peacefulness of it all.

Whether recently sitting at my BIL's firepit drinking beers with family.
Or back in the day when I used to bird hunt, all of us sitting around a big fire acting a fool..

Those hunting days are why I don't drink liquor anymore.
    Beer yes, liquor no...

I think there's something about the campfire situation that just speaks to us on a primal level, and the family bonds are so strongly rooted that they resonate at the same level. It's a very simple and symbolic situation of "I am sharing what resources I have with you, because I regard you as valuable and worthy."

    ^ Yes, this.
Not much more calming, like drift you off to sleep calming, than waves on a beach...

Years ago I read something kinda like that. I think I remember the author making a good argument for it going back to pre-civilization times when our lives revolved around the fire.

I'm the lone man in my little concrete box of an office. I can't play that or I'll be drooling into my keyboard for the rest of my shift. I'm not a big ocean lover being an inland dweller, but give me a creek with frogs or the rolling thunder and rain... Love it.

Yes, just moving water, be a beach, river, or rain.
I love a good rain storm.
I actually like walking in the rain, which my wife wants no part of....:eek2:

I've got an app on my phone I use when I can't sleep that sounds like rain with thunder in the background.
Works better than beer or Ambien...:D

Y'all hit that Secret Santa thread if you haven't already.
It's a lot of fun and doesn't cost that much.
Just ignore my tantrum I had on it...:eek2::rolleyes:

    Goodnight peeps..
    Have a great weekend...

Ironically, when we saw Alabama here a couple of years ago, the fiddle player was absent.

i find that when we go to resorts and/or places that serve liquor, if you tip very well right out the gate, they take care of you over others and usually don't skimp on the liquor. we found that out in an all inclusive resort in cancun when I was 19. tipped her $20 on first drink. didn't have to worry or wait at all. same thing when we went on a cruise. lil dude took good care of us. my credit card was melted after that trip.

They technically had one, but Jeff didn’t make the tour. His Parkinson’s had him in bad shape. I think he’s touring with them again though.

Yeah, that twenty bucks isn’t going to put you in a bind, but it means a ton to them. When we check into a resort, I’ll fold a twenty up and hand it to them along with my ID and credit card. Pretty much always gets you a room upgrade. When we went to Vegas a few years back we got upgraded to a corner room overlooking the Billagio fountains.

The drummer really got a raw deal. The record label apparently forced him on them and they treated him like shit because of it.
