If the cylinder deactivation is still not an option on the GMs, I might recommend one. If not…no thanks.

I still think the old and new tundra is still the best option in the 1/2 ton segment. Time is money, and I just don’t think one will spend much time at the dealership or in the garage with these trucks.

For me, the 2022 Tundra is a home run. Wait until TFL does the Ike Gauntlet tow tests on them. People might change their minds….

What does it do or what are the signs when the 10-speed is about to go?

very harsh shifting (throw you forward a bit) 1st -> 2nd and 2nd -> 3rd no matter how soft or hard you accelerate, I have not taken it into the shop yet but from what I have read on some forums others with this problem state that they had to have their transmissions replaced.

I really like GMC trucks. My issue is that you have hit the most expensive trims to get bucket seats and a full center console. The 2011 Sierra I had was a SLE and had them. No center console and no bucket seats is a deal breaker for me.

“Time is money”…that’s the biggest thing for me. And I agree the ‘22 will be a great truck. I bet it rides a lot smoother, shows 5+mpg better on average, and tows great. Even if it doesn’t have as big of a payload boost as I was hoping…

The advantage is the lowest trims with a centre console (Elevation and RST) are also the ones that are colour matched instead of chrome.

Even though the bed is narrower and lower on the 22 Tundra?

That's actually appealing. If the new Sierra Elevation + 5.3L V8 and a Tundra SR5 + TRD Off Road are in the same price range, it's gonna make my decision for my next truck alot tougher. I'll still probably buy a Toyota but the race will be tighter.

I'm not buying a truck for a couple years though. Let the market sort itself out and see how the new Tundra looks in person and with real world usage from others.

I was hoping for a couple hundred more in payload as well. Once I retire and have no need for a diesel, I can see a Limited or (I can't believe I'm saying this) Pro to travel all over with. Put a decked system in, fuel and oil changes, enjoy seeing North America more in depth.

This is Toyota forum, I think tundra might be lacking few bells and whistles from competition. But when you start tundra and finish your business. That truck keeps on going , you don’t have to worry that it’s approaching 100k miles , something might go off engine or transmission. I sincerely hope Toyota’s next gen tunndra is like that.

87 k miles on tundra , still everything feels strong and tight like first day from dealer. I can’t expect from domestic trucks.

whatever Bells and whistles are missing in regards to domestic competition if Toyota can deliver on reliability that’s a big win for them.

Everyone dogging the new Tundra and the lack of certain features would end up pricing this truck out of many people's wallets. Has that thought ever crossed your minds?

Sorry if this has already been answered but does anyone know if the OTA updates for the infotainment system include the maps update for the GPS ?

YES. As with many of these features, it’s a solution in search of a problem.

Spend a little bit of time at the GM-trucks.com forum. It will cure your desire for any GM half-ton right away.

No plans on getting one. I just stated it's tempting. I love how it looks, but I need my vehicles to be dead reliable. If I had disposable income of more than 100k I'd definitely get one.

The guys I work with that drive GM trucks seem to love them and not have any issues though. Most people join forums because their vehicle is broken down or having issues, and they want a solution.

I definitely agree with you, it's a little over the top and seems like this system won't be to reliable and could cause dangerous situation. I see alot of recalls coming out for GMC and some of you guys worried about electronics in the tundra this doesn't even compare.

Overall liking the new Tundra ! Not liking little things copied from Ford Raptor like fake engine sounds pumped in cabin, and that stupid orange stripe on steering wheel in pro. (not to mention the cringe TRD placard on bottom of it) Even the T O Y O T A spelled out above glovebox looks lame.

The capstone name surprises me, as the rumor was for a new top level trim to be called Cobalt. (would trade the 22's for 18's)

...also just watched Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills and if driving down highway and run across a murder scene, I don't want my truck to stop if Mr. Myers steps in front of it. :)

Not truck related but go blue crew as LA heads back to Atl with a tall order of having to win 2 games.

The TRD on the bottom of the wheel does seem like it is forced. Makes the wheel too busy IMO. I'm also not sold on the Pano roof. I'd much rather have a sunroof but time will tell what I pick. Will be excited to see pricing soon.

My only concerns are with the quantity of 6.14 inchers and when the market will stabilize.
