    RPR ~ "Ruger Precision Rifle"

A little background on myself. I work for
    Kaiser Aluminum Chemical Company @
Jackson, TN plant known as Tennalum.
(Rod, Bar, and Wire division) We supply
Ruger with all the Aluminum for the RPR
weapon. (Possible other models as well)

It's very possible that I had a hand in the
production of the Aluminum in most your
Weapons since I have been there 26 yrs.

This is my first long gun, and of course I
had to have one of these for the obvious
reasons. American pride @ my workplace.

I told my gun shop to order me one last week. Can't wait to reach out and hit some steel with this thing.

what do you have for optics on yours and how far out have you gone?

    It's a Vortex Viper PST-43127, I haven't shot it yet.

I just got it in December, and I work too much. It's
pretty when I'm at work, and crappy when I'm off.

I got the accessories around Christmas, and then I
purchased another one (it's in Layaway) on Feb 2.

Both are Gen 2, pictured is .308, 6.5 is in Layaway.

I have 25 acres, so I'm making a "Lane" to take it
out as far as possible. Got a Vortex range finder to
get some good target placements along that Lane.

that's awesome. unfortunately here in CT I can't find a range that goes beyond 200 yards. So it is going to be a little bit of a senseless purchase for me, but we do have some family in ND that I would like to go out and shoot with at some point so I can try getting out to 600-800 yards. At least the length of the ranges or lack there of here in CT will save me a little bit of money on glass knowing that I will usually be shooting at 100-200 yards

@joem1cha3l one of these would be able to reach out and touch a deer at 1000 yards easily. It would be a little bit above your price point but would be an awesome rifle for both target and game.

I wanna get a gen 2 in 6.5 creedmor and push it. Lots of open space here in the desert. 1,000 yards shots easy to setup (right now I only have 308)

I've had the 6.5 for about a year and really enjoy it. Finally got around to cerakoting it.
I've shot it to just under 1000 yards and my Howa 6.5 hunting rifle to 750. Both very accurate and the 6.5 is easy to shoot.

Thanks! This one was a pain and ended up rushing it a bit.

@74TundraPilot did the rifle come with the short piece of rail that your bipod is mounted on?

aaaahhh, it's been awhile, but I'm pretty sure it did. I think the sling QD cup on the hand rail came with it also.

Mounted my bipod and changed out the grip yesterday and ordered new optics and rings from Vortex today. Hopefully they will be here soon so can sight it in and get some lead down range.

I'm stuck at work, and just got notification from fedex that my optic has been delivered from Vortex. I've had this for almost a month now and haven't shot it. Tomorrow will be the day!!!

@74TundraPilot do you have a hard shell case for yours? if so which one?

Not that anyone cares about my opinion, but Pelican cases are worth the price. Nice to have the piece of mind they will keep your weapons protected, dry, and clean. They will take a beating too! Look on Craigslist for a deal on a used one. My Weapons traveled around a good bit and because of the case it was always zeroed when I arrived at my destination.

Sweet setup gents. This thing is on my short list to buy. Looks like an awesome setup!

    I'm a huge ruger fan boy though, so it's a win-win.

I've always been a fan of Pelican and SKB, I was leaning towards the SKB 3i series as I already have a few and they stack.

the cheap one.... I got a Crossfire II in 6x18 44mm. I figured most of my shooting is going to be at 200 yards so I would start on the cheaper end and when I have the chance to go out west and reach out to the 800+ mark I will spend some more money on glass.

No, all my rifles ride in soft sided drag bags and the like; sometimes soft sided guitar case. Just find them more user friendly for the field and vehicle travel. Have a cheap Plano that sits under the bed with 12 gauge in it.
