I don't get it either, only scenario I do where I like that it's not locked is when you finish fueling up lawnmower/generator/etc. and still have some left in the jerry can, and don't want to leave it in the jerry can until the next time it's needed. It's nice to just open up the fuel door, no keys needed, and put the extra into the truck tank.

For that 1 nice time without it locking I'd trade it for having a locking/flush door all the rest of the time - you only forget a few times when jumping out to unlock it.

It's on the driver's side and I usually have my keys in my pocket so easy to unlock the truck and pull the lever to unlock the gas door. Heck, half the time I put the old gas in the Corolla and it has a locking door.

I think more and more people do since toyota made questionable changes to the new tundra in some areas.

for me, Im interested in both since they added 5" to the new truck and a few other things as well.

I’m in the same boat. Was considering saving for a slide-in bed camper. Even if the bed were the right size for one, I was expecting a much bigger payload increase. Probably just need to go HD after this truck. Or we’ll just do a rack/RTT and be a bit over GVWR like everyone else with the same setup.
I’d never buy another GM half ton, but I get it. I think a lot of us were leaning toward an HD truck but holding out hope that Toyota would blow us all away with the 3rd gen reveal.

Although I plan on buying a 22, I don't expect to own one til mid-late 2022. Not sure if you guys are paying attention but this shortage is getting worse. The shipping industry was hit hard but also that incident which delayed shipments for a week. I expect that most of these Tundras will be selling at MSRP if not slightly above. I'm also sure the TRS pro will selling well above MSRP. I wouldn't mind paying MSRP for one, but I'm not paying more than that :turtleride:

when pricing comes out I plan to decide on exactly what I want, find a dealer not charging any BS costs or over msrp and place a order. And wait….

Exactly, never pay over MSRP. It makes it worse for everyone. The market will settle down.

if you’re not going to buy at launch just wait until rebates come back then. I wouldn’t pay MSRP for a 22 a few months outside of the launch window. At that point might as well as wait for manufacturer incentives

I wouldn’t call it a dud. Disappointing? Sure. Overhyped? Ya. It’s still pretty competitive and capable but what’s going to really determine dud status is pricing and final options to trims.

I do. It’s important to see how others feel about their trucks. I’m not going to stick my head in the sand and think that Toyota is the best and only truck out there and I use to work on the product.

I looked back and it appears you're about the only one complaining. You don't speak for everyone here ... actually it appears you don't speak for anyone here so chill out. Toyota isn't the holy grail of car makers, I don't mind hearing what the competition has to offer. Toyota screwed the pooch with everything about this release then put out a so-so looking product that still falls short in many areas.

I am interested in other brands because I am an avid truck enthusiast. I have built them, drove them all, repaired them all. I am a Toyota fanboy and have 2 in the driveway.

However, it is fun to compare and talk about other brands also. Been on the other forums, I enjoy my time here by far the most!

Well, probably no more news out on the 2022 Tundra until 11/01 when they announce pricing and MPG.

I guess let's just shut this thread down until then as about everything has been covered.

I think for the most part The Tundra is a better truck overall compares to the old one. Toyota talked a lot of hype on the new truck and many automotive journalists took a big drink of Toyota Koolaide before reviewing the truck. Many Tundra owners were expecting a game changing truck but most of us felt it just brought us up to where the competition is. It’s definitely better than the old Tundra but falls short in many areas that we hoped it would have addressed.

I must say, looking over the introduction of the new Sierra 1500, it makes Toyotas product intro look like amateur hour. I know that GM' has about the worst reliability these days, but the did go the extra mile with the tech...it kinda makes Toyota's effort look like a freshman engineers project.

It is a good thing that toyota has the reliability thing going for it (so far). If it didn't....it would pretty much be a non option to all but the devout fanboys.

If you are a first time 1/2 ton truck shopper and came across these 2 sites for new trucks...which one makes the best impression.
