Has anyone been affected by this virus attack? I'm afraid to turn on my laptop that I don't update. Is it already too late? Should I just turn it on?

Seems like they're only targeting companies. Haven't heard or read of any personal computers unless you're a CEO of a big company I would just update and bite the bullet.

As soon as you turn it on you will know if you've got it. I had it happen to me. It changes all the icons on your desktop, and won't let you open anything. Mine also added a note icon that when clicked basically said, we got you , if you want your shit back, send money for the decryption code to unlock all your files.

They found some vulnerability in Windows and Microsoft sent a patch for it on the latest update. If you update windows you're ok. If you don't you're vulnerable to this virus.

Is not guarantee you were affected by the virus..the only way your computer was hit by the virus is if it was hit before you turned it off

I was told they can hide it in certain links, .jpg, etc, and often times the website might not know its been added (hidden in the link) immediately.
