    Hello all,

New to the forum and have just put a deposit on a 2021 Tundra, Crew Max TRD Off Road in Cement. I believe I have read everything I could on the catch can debate but am still confused...

In short, does our separator case act as a PCV oil catch can?

If I installed a dual PCV & CCV catch can like the Radium would there be any benefit? The truck will not be super charger. Should I put on just the PCV one ala JLT?

I see a lot of video and pics of peoples catch cans full (mostly the PCV one... hardly the CCV one) but are they just catching what would normally be caught in the separator case beforehand? See below pic.

I understand some kits are expensive and people think they re not worth it, but do they provide any value to our port injection V8's?

    Thanks everyone,

Thanks for the reply! Hope you are enjoying the Trail Edition.

Do you feel the CCV catch can is unnecessary? I have a supplier looking into the full Radium set up but may go with the JLT.

In reference to my pic above; Does the JLT PCV setup catch the oil that was not filtered in the separator case but, before it goes into the intake manifold?

I strongly suggest JLT, it catches the oil missed by the inadequate factory design.

I have the dual radium kit. Well made, but seriously just go with the pcv single can. The crankcase can has been bone dry since installed 17k miles ago. For what it's worth, mine is supercharged. The last picture is the accumulation from the pcv can over 17k miles. And welcome from AZ.

2mchfun- What model with the Hayden? I have also seen a lot of good reviews from the ones being offered at genuinecoolingsystems.com For what it is worth I like that the Hayden ones come in black as they are harder to see behind the grill.

AZTundra- Thanks for the info! I would say you would be a lot more susceptible to anything that may be captured on the CCV side and if you have not been collecting anything that is a good thing. I live in a considerably different climate in the great white north but do not think that would be a reason for the CCV side to be beneficial.

The Radium stuff looks great, and I like the fact it has a dip stick. I have bought a JLT can before and they have always been great at answering questions. Talked to a Radium guy and he just told me to watch their YouTube video. I figure if they waste their time on me I can waste some money on them

Hayden 778 Rapid cool HD. You can order the cooler, grommets, fittings for the cooler, hose, and clamps from Amazon. Thermostat, hard lines, and short hoses from Sparks parts. I had the bolts already here. Filled my cooler and lines with water to measure volume then dried with compressed air and time to determine additional fluid required. Pretty much common sense stuff on install though.

So is this mod strictly to increase longevity of the engine or is there any performance improvement with it?

Better combustion makes more power per gallon, it keeps the combustion chamber cleaner, it makes less pollution, cats last longer. Overall the truck, driver, and mechanic do less work to get r done so to speak.

What does the JLT can run? Just curious how it compares in price to the Radium Engineering.

Not bad at all. The Radium Engineering kit is pricier. I found the dual kit for $380 on Amazon which seemed to be a steal.

Radium- $324cad for just the PCV and $572cad for the PCV & CCV for the Canadians. At least that was my quote from Vex performance, one of the few Radium dealers. Amazon.ca has Radium products but not for the Tundras.

With regards to the radiator- Has anyone put together a full kit? I would like it installed before I pick up the truck.

Search genuinecooling systems here on the forum. I bet there might be shortage issues though right now no matter what source.

I read on another forum that Toyota was supposed to be doing something about the tranny cooler because of all the complaints... Anyone else "hear" this? I feel that they would have done something by now

Either way it'll be through UPS/FedEx, the box is/was too heavy for Canada Post to deliver, just FYI, I paid about $80-90 for duty.
