'06 Baseline Dyno done.

Baseline dyno done today before headers and exhaust.

2006 DC Toyota Tundra V8 TRD Off-Road 2WD, 130k miles.

Maintenance:
-New plugs
-New o2 sensors
-RedLine 75w90 LSD rear diff oil
-Recent oil change with Mobil full synthetic 5w20 and larger 51515xp Wix oil filter

Mods:
AEM drop in dry air filter
Dirty Deeds 12 hole injectors

Ambient temp 72*F, 788ft above sea level in North West Georgia. DynoJet dyno with no correction factor.

Tried to upload a video, will try again later.

Was only expecting around 200hp/210tq at the wheels, it being a 15 year old truck.

Will upload second dyno run after headers/exhaust installed.

Would've loved to see a snapshot from before the DD injectors, but should be interesting to see gains from exhaust mods for sure.

If anyone is too lazy to look up, stock specs for the '06 w/4.7 are
Horsepower 271 hp @ 5,400 rpm
Torque 313 lb-ft @ 3,400 rpm

Not surprised to see it exceeded 240 on both. I wouldn't expect a 30%+ decline in HP/TQ on a well-maintained drivetrain. Current decline is 10% on HP, 12% on TQ.

I'd also be interested to see what it's capable of with the stock filter, given what has been shown in videos comparing stock to no filter to AEM/K&N style filters, wet and dry.

My long term goal is building a bottom end with stronger rods and head studs, then installing a roots style supercharger with 12-15psi of boost. But that is still a couple years down the road.

The same information you reference is why I haven't done much to the intake tract. And the air intake will probably be replaced or modified with the supercharger.

I'm aware of the stock intake's design efficiency and ran a stock paper type filter up until recently. Also not a fan of the oiled K&N type filters. When I installed the AEM dry filter I also removed the factory charcoal activated air filter at the same time. While I can't verify my claims with actual numbers the truck seemed the respond positively to the change. It would have remained a stock paper filter had I not aquired the AEM for basically free.

 

I'm excited to see this. Thanks for taking the time and spending the money to show us real data.

 

Actually, I think his numbers are at the wheel vs. the factory numbers which are at the crank. So they are inline with what I would expect to see, given drivetrain losses.

I've tried, whenever I try to publish it gives me an error. It's pretty standard video. A 7 second pull at wide open throttle. Not really missing out on anything special.

 

Solid numbers, I'd be happy with those.

Did they give you an estimate of RPM at TQ peak? Seems like it may have peaked lower than stock, which is a plus in my book.

 

No clue unfortunately. I'm not certain what gear was used, otherwise I could try to match speeds and observe RPM on the street.

 

They did it in 4th on your 06 I would guess. which 65mph would be low 3000s somewhere, but on the road you are fighting bumps and wind drag, so a dyno mph is not a direct correlation it doesn't have to work as hard to spin the rollers.

 

if you hop on a freeway, hold 65, and hit the tow/haul button, it will give you a 65mph reference rpm that will be likely slightly higher than the dyno rpm, but we'll never know by how much.

 

HP = (RPM x torque) divided by 5252

FACT: When the horizontal axis of the graph is RPM (vs MPH), the HP and Torque lines always cross at 5252 RPM.
QUESTION: So given that, can it be inferred that the RPM at 84 MPH (where the lines cross) is 5252? I don't know. Maybe someone who's better at math can confirm.

 

based on bubbles postulous could it be that peak hp is 248??

 

Tire size and rear end gearing is also a factor.
265/75r17 & A750 trans, at 84mph (approx.):

5th = 2675rpm
4th = 4075rpm
3rd = 5425rpm
