personally i never had an issue with the 2G, 2.5G or 3G truck looks. i have always been more concern about interior options as such that technically 90% of your time is behind the steering wheel looking out, not outside looking at the truck. but then again my wife thinks the outside has to look just as good, but meh, i guess i am weird then.

I am also more concerned about the interior too, especially the color, I spend much more time looking at the interior than the exterior of the car. Other than the 2 shades of brown for the 1792, we still don’t know much about the interior color selections on various models.

So if I’m reading this right, the wheelbase stayed exactly the same but the overall length is give or take 5” longer. Dammit, my wife is right.. #SizeMatters

lol not unless i have too. i am really bad on my silver 4runner especially during the winter months. you would understand if you lived in ND during winters up here or you can ask some our northern friends how that works out eh :)

sometimes i have gone several months without washing my 4runner. hell when i had my old subaru legacy 3.6R (before cvt), i think i went about a year before a car wash (silver also). meh, its a vehicle. after the newness wears off, its transportation pretty much for me. all i care about is that the interior fits my needs since thats where i am at most of the time.

heck right now i only drive to work and back (roughly 25min drive 1 way and 15mins is at 74mph) and then it sits in the garage from thursday nite until monday morning for work. otherwise we take the tundra. i wash that more often since the wife complains when it gets dirty, but that her call not mine and she pays for it just like she pays her tundra payment.

Funny thing, if I could change one thing it’d actually be the taillights well before the front end.

I do find the taillights odd, but they don’t really bother me. The only thing I really don’t like is the body pieces on the ends of the front bumper.

No extremes in that estimate! lol I think 15 and 18 maybe 19 are more realistic real world #'s. If you get 12 currently, NO way you are getting 20 with the TTV6.

So would you keep a new 2022 stock or modify it like your current Tundra? Lifts, bigger tires will effect the new truck as well.

probably a better comparison would be 17 mpg vs 20 mpg

right now we avg about 11 mpg city and 15 highway. but on a bad windy day (remember its always windy ind ND and we avg 10-25 mph winds, bad days its 30-45mph), we cant make the trip from our house to the daughter house on 1 tank of gas and its only 310 miles away door to door. if we can get another 5mpg that would save a lot of inconvenience on our trip to see the grandson as we wouldnt have to stop along the way to get gas. so a 5hr trip would be cut down about 25-45 mins one way depending on road conditions during summer/winter.

edit: speed limit is 75mph on I-94 which is 2/3 rd of the trip distance. 1st leg is only 65mph.

I can't wait to see what kind of mileage it gets doing truck stuff (Towing/Hauling). IF the mileage is significantly better hooked up to a 7K travel trailer or loaded to max payload, it may get more of my attention.

If the MPG's are a wash when doing those things, it may make more sense in the long run to get a low mileage used 2nd gen and save a bunch of money.

For me the Tundra will do truck stuff only, haul and pull....I have another vehicle that is way more convenient to use in town and off road exploring.

It will be interesting to see the mileage towing.

I don’t think your going to see a significant, if any fuel gains while towing. It just takes a certain amount of energy (fuel) to move your TT. The 3.5 might be slightly more efficient but it will be insignificant when towing. You will notice a better towing experience at elevation though.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. The Toyota design team knows what its doing.

Your theory is a bit off. The 3.5tt is alot more efficient to the old school 5.7 V8. It's all about combustion efficiency. Turbo engine are roughly 30% more efficient than any n/a motor. 3.5tt makes more power and torque per cylinder than the 5.7. And turbo engines naturally makes more power per fuel particle under light load. Under heavy load it depends on the duty cycle of the given engine. Now this one uses port and direct injection which is a huge plus so you can gain maximum performance and save fuel in certain condition. And this system has been used Lexus platforms a long time. And yes it takes a certain amount of energy to tow a given amount of weight but let's say they get the same mileage when towing 8,000lbs you might think they both have the same combustion efficiency but they don't. The 3.5tt will still have better efficiency due to the fact that it makes more power per fuel particle at any RPM which is impressive and that's on flat grounds. What about going uphill into high attitude that's where turbos engine shine. So 5.7 V8 has less power and alot less torque than the 3.5tt but the 3.5 has better mpg by 5mpg combined. All we talk about is peak numbers, what about average numbers throughout the RPM band. I saw a Dyno graph from the new land cruiser and it's impressive to say the least compared to the V8. Now I don't know the numbers off hand but it was atleast 25% or more than the current 5.7 and the reason for that is a completely flat torque curve so at 2400rpm you get a full 479lbs of torque throughout the RPM band. So the 5.7 it's like a mountain and it does climb but it does falls off. For example take your truck out and go half throttle right at 3500 and you feel a big burst of power right at that RPM. Imagine that at 2400 and alot more of it.

Celebrating diversity between races, sexes, etc is a wonderful thing but we cannot only celebrate the positive differences. We have to be allowed to point out the negatives as well. However, doing so gets turned into an “ism” and leads to cancellation.

Science, life experiences, and even casual observation tell us that there are talents more commonly found among some demographics and less commonly found among others. Only in today’s woke world is this deemed “evil.”

With all due respect, despite the melodramatic quotes, your opinion requires no “spine” in today’s environment.

I tried to keep up with this thread but it’s tough so please forgive me for this question if it’s been hammered hard.

Is the 2022 five inches longer than the current Tundra? If so, that’s a problem for me.

Thanks ! ...so the new model will be a bit taller as well. I imagine a good deal of test drives will be straight to home and s l o w l y do a garage check.

(at least in the cold weather states) ..could always just use tape measure, but where's the fun in that lol :)

Oh I’m well aware of the NW part of ND. I have plenty of family in the city you live in and surrounding areas (Stanley, Ross, Bismarck, etc.) and visit ever couple years. I was up in 2020 with a flatbed trailer laying an uncle to rest in Minot.

My point is the new tundra will probably not get 20 mpg in your location due to local elements that you described. The Dakota’s/Montana/Wyoming is some of the toughest towing I have had.

Weird you only get 11 mpg. I was getting a lot better than that with my 2012 up in ND. Towing with the diesel and the camper I dipped down into the high 9’s.

This was just outside Sturgis SD coming down from ND. I about ran out of diesel due to a slight miscalculation due to that damn wind. I have a 36 gallon tank and I filled up on 35 gallons.

So was my Tundra. It did a really good as a truck and stand behind them. Where I was heading with trailer and towing duties, I would have been the biggest hypocrite on here.

My current one is just a different tool in the “shed”. Appreciate the kind words. It has been a great work truck for the past 70+K miles.

Hopefully we address this for the last time (that was a big hint and suggestion if anyone didn't catch it), move forward and actually take something from this as a group. We don't need to quote me and continue. If you have a problem, please feel free to use "chat with the staff" or PM us directly.

JuicyJ's comment (multiple times I might add):

If you are all right with those comments, you have my blessing to say whatever you want on another platform. Not really sure what all this discussion about women had to do with the design of the 2022 Tundra an if/why it even matters. Freedom of speech is not freedom from consequence. Technically you can say whatever you want on this site until you no longer can.

The staff on these multiple sites are pretty easy going for the most part. Some things get said that might be borderline usually just get deleted or a warning with a PM. No big deal unless the member continues to do the same action.

I posted the link to the Code of Conduct and also copied and pasted for all to see.

In the red we have the issues with JuicyJ and is the reason for most members booting off this site.

In purple (or whatever that color is) by far causes the most vacations on the sites. People try to be slick and talk in code. Guess we are a bunch of nerds that sit in a box all day and never see what's going on in the real world.

This is why these rules are in place. Let's talk about truck shit. Towing, MPG, Power, reliability...etc.

The atmosphere at Tundras.com is meant to be welcoming and friendly to anyone who visits. Therefore, the staff of this site have laid out the following guidelines:

Use of offensive and inflammatory language, discussions or content targeting an ethnic, political or religious group, gender, sexual orientation, name calling, and humiliating or bashing members is prohibited in the forums. Political discussion, talk or displays of reckless driving, street racing and excessive speeding are also not permitted here. Posting links or information for the purpose of pirating or illegally obtaining products is also prohibited.

Any political discussion or images will result in a 30-day ban from the site.

Personal attacks or threats against other members will not be tolerated and will generally result in expulsion from the site.

Any link pertaining to a Crowdsource fundraiser links are not permitted without prior approval by the staff

Fundraising accounts should be for legitimate needs (mainly life/safety contributions. House lost in fire, medical care, etc.) The reasoning for this is the staff have recently noticed someone create a "GoFundMe" account at the reasoning of ""Saw another Tundra member doing it so I figured what the hell why not lol." This is NOT a GoFundMe forum and we are not about asking for handouts. This applies to any fund raising means as well; such as raffles, lotteries, etc.

Should you have reason to take issue with a thread or post content, please discuss it with the Site Administrator or Moderators. Do not feel obligated or empower yourself to deal with the issue on their behalf. Such action will not be tolerated since it quickly spins out of control and the consequences are irreversible. Such unwarranted action almost never remedies the issue but hurts and brings disrepute to all members of the site.

Images or discussions that are questionable or sexual in nature DO NOT belong on the forum. A vast cross section of people browse this site from their places of work and/or homes where co-workers or family members are nearby. These members should not have to worry about potentially embarrassing images appearing on their screen as a result of careless posting.

Any violation of the guidelines set out above will be dealt with by the moderators at their own discretion, including permanently banning members who decide to go against the rules and spirit of the site.
