I have a low tolerance for bad drivers, especially those who cut me off, or pull out in front of me without looking (BTW...did you ever notice that they usually already have a dent right where you would have hit them?). I have fantasized for years about having an old beater truck that I could remove the front bumper and weld on a couple pieces of railroad track instead. I love my Tundra too much to do this however.

My brother's first vehicle was a 1956 Willys Wagon with a HUGE steel bumper. He always called it a "You Lose" bumper. :)

What about the matching rear? I think the rear was at least hung straight.. Gives new meaning to those old rollpan bumpers...

This is from Tough Country. They still make a rear bumper for our trucks. I purchased through Peacemaker Bumpers. Build time was really reasonable, even with 2021 supply chain issues. Shipping was reasonable and nice to come via. freight vs. one of the major carriers. Install wasn't horrible once I figured it out and got my rusty bolts off. Jacking up the bumper to position it was critical. I think it looks pretty good. I had to drill a hole for my backup camera wire and the included license plate lights are a bit weak (going to replace with LEDs). It's almost impossible to find a good picture of what this actually looks like on the web installed on one of our trucks, so I hope this helps. Overall, I'd recommend it. Tough Country TB0325T is the model number.

2.5in suspension lift (Bilstein 5100's, Icon add-a-leaf, Eibach pro springs, Camburg upper control arms, and kyb replacement tophats.) ARMA Bedliner. Trailer Braking System. Fifth wheel underbed mount plates (frame mounted) W/ through bolts in bed. Yakima Q-Towers W/ 58in Yakima round crossbars and 52in Yakima wind fairing.
If you can weld or have a buddy who can weld or if you want to bolt your bumper together i suggest you check out Move Bumpers. They have front and rear bumpers and a few different styles. Also all their bumpers are very reasonably priced compared to a lot of whats out there for us first generation tundra owners. I plan on going with some Move Bumpers after i finish my lift and tires.

700lbers are recommended for a plate bumper with a winch. If you go light weight and no winch nor sliders nor skids, you might be able to get away with 650lb coils. I had 650lbers on my AC with full armor, no winch, for about a year before upgrading to 700lbs and they held up great on road. Off road they were too soft.

What does the average plate bumper weigh? Winch weight? The sequoia and tundra dont get enough respect in traffic, i’d like to change that. I dont want people cutting in at the last second and hitting the brakes. I also dont want people comfortable walking across parking lots in front of me. I’ll let you pass if you hesitate and grab your kids, but the more nervous they are, the faster they walk.

If i build a move bumper, the plate with the logo will be reversed and i will have a light behind it.

I'm not sure the average weight of either. I know the coastal bumpers are pretty light. I think they use slightly thinner steel than say brute force.

I just helped a friend install a Move on front of her 07 Taco and it weighed significantly less than the tube bumper I made for rear of Tundra. The Rear one she has in my garage from another brand also is significantly lighter than I would have imagined.

I plan on bracing the crumple zones, so i can use my bumper. I might have 2 hitches in line with the frame horns, braced against the mounting plate. Could have a winch to stick to either side off road, or a low cross bar on-road.

With the resurgence in popularity of our trucks and so many wanting to modify them I’m surprised there’s still such limited aftermarket support. It’s a bummer. My plan will be brute force front and rear unless something cooler comes along

still haven’t seen a aftermarket bumper i like even after going thru everyones builts. the weigh seems burdensome i wonder if their are aluminum options?? the early 2000 fgt had a nice looking chrome i saw one guys in hawaii where he removed little section and raised his original chrome bumper a few inches. badazz

Coastal off-road has aluminum option, but bear in mind their bumpers are diy kits and their steel bumper is already pretty light all things considered. BTW CO is doing a BF sale now.

Hefty Fabworks also makes one for our trucks, but you have to get in touch with them. I haven't seen one personally, but the rest of their lineup are really nice looking.

Randy Ellis make a nice light bar if you don't want to drop the coin on a full bumper. I have one on mine and it's pretty stout. Amazing BF deals on them too.

This is still the best feature of the Brute Force bumper.
