Plenty of room in the back seat as it seems they took some of that wasted space and put it to better use.
Larger bed - 6.5 foot in a crew cab, I wouldn't be here otherwise.
Longer truck - not seeing that as a downside, especially if you're only talking an inch or two.

The smaller bed really pisses me off. Same with the massive hump in the rear floor.

Looking at the 5.5 bed models, I believe the truck grew in exterior diemensions, but shrunk in interior and inside bed dimensions. Head scratcher.

I believe it’s and extra 5” hanging off the front.

For the record. I agree with you. But I can't for the life of me figure out where we as a society decided we need to rebut every viewpoint that doesn't align with the majority (is it really the majority?). He said something you and I don't necessarily agree with. For me, I choose to scroll past and let him have his view - after all, I'm never going to be able to change it. You on the other hand, feel compelled to chastise him for not aligning with society and seem genuinely offended over his words - to the point that you vaguely threaten him with censorship. I just don't get why you decided to 'publicly' admonish him and to shoulder that responsibility other than to virtue signal to the rest of us.

It’s to help prevent serious injuries to pedestrians if you happen to run one over. With the size of that grill you could probably scoop up half a dozen and not even know it. :D

The transmission tunnel may be 1” higher than the rest of the floor. After seeing the truck in person the smaller bed and rear legroom area weren’t noticeable. Fortunately, for those that really need that extra space the CM 6’5” is available.

I never said there weren't legit reasons to keep your old truck if that's what you want. If I had a current gen Tundra I wouldn't trade it for the new one until I was ready to trade it in anyway. I was referring to the people who are literally crapping on the new engine because it doesn't sound as good as the weaker, thirstier V8. I didn't mischaracterize the position of the people I was talking about.

If that's true, it's completely through the roof. I literally just looked at a brand new 2021 CrewMax TRD Off Road online at a dealership in my town. It's priced at $54,000.

The short bed config grew 5 inches in overall length and is wider. The result? Class trailing passenger space and wider turn radius. That’s not a win.

Going back to the article where they said they made the Tundra for the enthusiasts and outdoor niche, doesn’t make sense with what they did.

that cant be right, are you talking about crewmax 5.5 vs crewmax 5.5?

mine is a hair under 20' long, like 19.4 (ish), so your saying the new one is 20.5?

if thats the case Im out, wont fit in my 20' garage.

My 21 is like 228.9 I think and the new one is 233.5. So like ALMOST 5" longer. but not quite the full. This is the crewmax short bed. Like you, this is one reason I can't entertain the 22 model it won't fit in me garage. I only have 2-3 inches of space to play with.

I went and checked, I was wrong, the current one is right at 19.075, and the 2022 is 19.46

man that is going to be super tight in a 20' standard garage. I will have to see if I can stuff that in here during a test drive, it may not be possible. if thats the case, then I dont give a shit how reliable a tundra is, Ill be in another brand.

kinda lame to have that much extra length but smaller all over the place inside and inside the bed.

Like I said before, the more and more small details that come out, they are going in the wrong direction.

It'll fit in a standard garage but I wouldn't want that daily parking burden. It would be a tight squeeze. Prob be like my Yukon and the parking sensors would be going off like crazy the whole time you're concentrating and when you finally get it, the transmission roll makes you do it again.

ya I already have marks on the wall from super slow bumps here and there with this one.

that blows, I didnt realize they made it that much longer until now.

I may have to expand my secondary truck list from an AT4 and include another Ram truck as well.

ya, Im not so sure on this now, I dont think I have another 5 inches with the ribs on the garage door. man that will be close, I think too close and it would have to be absolutely perfectly fit to even have a chance. not sure thats going to work.

Im going to measure what I have again but Im thinking Ill have <.5" I mean fuck that.

Ram 1500 is about 3/4 inch shorter so better. But if you want gen 2.5 fitment you'll have to stick with Ford or GM.

I really thought some of you were crazy when I read how you thought the Tundra was becoming an SUV with a small truck bed. The more time on this forum I spend, the more I understand your point of view.

ya, as the small details emerge, its not trending well. I cant believe they made this thing 5 inches longer, 8" narrower in the bed, shallower in the bed, less leg room, less, shoulder room, etc. etc.

Im rethinking things a bit more at the moment, reliability is super important, but its not everything. fitting in the garage is a deal breaker 100% for example.

That 5" in the front was so they didn't fail the small overlap crash test. Not this year IIHS!

Not stupid. Trust me I shopped 1/2 ton trucks for a long time and they've all been in my garage. The Silverado and AT4 are the same length but they fit, albeit tight. The Tundra just added and extra cushion for me which is nice but in some ways harder without sensors and the camera resolution. Ram didn't make it which means the new gen Tundra being longer than the Ram won't make it.

I love the updates of the 22 but the 'sacrifices' it took to get there to me kinda made it worse. I can get past a massive grills and the looks are growing on me and looks great in certain trims and colors. But I don't get the resizing of it. I'm sure it's engineering for the new powertrain and universal platform. But it kinda stinks.

Every time I read one of these posts proclaiming the sky is falling, I usually step back and can make an argument to justify it. This is an example of one: How much usable space are you really losing in and around the wheel wells? After a while though, it feels like you're an apologist. In my case specifically, this was going to be my first truck so I'm not sure why I'm so quick to defend them.

This is why I think electric trucks are an eventuality. You look at what Toyota had to go through to try and get 25 mpg for the Hybrid (I'm positive that's the number they were aiming for). At some point, this just doesn't make sense to keep trying to force a square peg in a round hole to get a brick to get better gas mileage.
