That's one of the things I wish I'd picked up while living in Poway. My street was peppered with Filipino families, many with auntie and uncle or gramma and grandpa living with them, everyone spoke Tagalog. Had a genuine chance to try and pick up the language, but was too focused on the kickass food and mahjong. Learned how to make lumpia, pancit like a pro.

One of these days I need to lookup one of my Filipino school friends living a few doors down, Ed Kare. Good kid. Nobody grew bananas though, the soil sucked in our hood. Mostly rocky garbage.

I've seen bananas around Poway but probably depends on what part. I've seen them near the Old Poway Park where I got married. I'm in SD all the time to see the in-laws, mostly Mira Mesa but some of them live in Caramel Mountain/Rancho Bernardo.

They know of so many weird fruits that I have not seen, I'm constantly learning of new fruits.

I'm seeing dealers that are doing insane adjustments to new vehicle prices. I saw a 2021 4Runner that had a $30,000 "market adjustment". We've gone full retard. I can't hate the dealers though. They can only do this because people are paying it. Capitalism. Take advantage of the idiots.

We were on the north end of Luis St, near the intersection of Roberto Way (92064). Right around the corner from 'snoopy rock'. Get a satellite view and you'll understand. Our backyard was about 10ft flat moving away from the house, then practically vertical. Ice plant everywhere. We used to cardboard-sled down the hills of ice plant. Fun times! Was at Twin Peaks Middle back then. We moved when dad finished his 20 in the USN.

Saw the same on a Bronco recently. $10,000 "market adjustment". Such an even number, such BS.

We picked the wrong time to hunt for a sub-30k mile 2020 Highlander Limited. I figured we could nab something in the $32k-38k range if non-Hybrid, $36-40k if hybrid, but they've got prices all jacked up, and are loaded with excuses why the same "market adjustment" doesn't apply to our 68k mile 2012 Limited trade-in, which is apparently only worth $8k.

Oh yeah, at the foot of the hills the soil always sucks. Decomposed granite more often than not. Can't grow any tropical stuff there without serious labor or potting.

Bananas in Cali? I didn't know it was possible. Thought the environment had to be tropical.

I'd love to be able to grow mango trees.

That's ultimately what it looked like - granite, only orangish colored, and it would break free into small cubes if you smacked at it with anything significant. Grass virtually impossible to grow. And the damn giant garden snails were obnoxious.

We're in the same boat. The highlander market if ridiculous right now. Being a Limited jacks the price up $10k alone... We've started searching for an XLE with bucket seats in the second row. Like trying to hunt a unicorn.

So since I don't have the keys to my truck, i took the SHO hoping the tire would give me a week till I could replace them. It did not. It did bad things and started shaking the car and wobbling side to side. I dropped it off at lunch to get some new shoes. $940 later I got some 235/45r18 yokos. They rub a tad in the rear when accelerating or turning left so I gotta get those stiffer konis/eibachs off the 92 on here quick. But, it rides and handles SO much better. It's amazing what some new rubber can do. I also need to get that curb rash fixed. Ugh.

I'd go XLE, but want that JBL sound system, not a lot of XLE have, but all Limited definitely do. I've bought XLE with JBL before, but I've heard the 11spk JBL system in the 2020+ models and it's pretty damn fabulous. I don't care about many other options. Gimme good audio, comfy pleather heated seats, PW + PL, and I'm good to go.

I've got a few search alerts setup within 120mi of me through CarGuru, Cars.com, TrueCar, and CarFax to try and pin it down. At this point I'm willing to forfeit a hybrid. I'd really like that extra 10-15mpg since we do most of our family travel in the Highlander, but ...

Then again, maybe we should wait 6mos. Got enough to pay cash, but anything over $40k is a lot of damn cash IMHO when we have a perfectly working model that's loaded with the options we need and want, just a clunky steering column and transaxle whine above 75mph.

Aw that’s shitty you never found your keys. I’ve been there. Hopefully there weren't many on the ring. I set my phone on my windshield cowl once and thinkin to myself as I did it that it was a bad idea and I had to remember to grab it. Well, minutes later while traveling on the freeway, my Bluetooth supplied tunes, suddenly stopped playing. Only took a second to realize why. Playing frogger on the freeway with a flashlight was a fruitless adventure as well. Dammit.

My 06 isn’t and I had that stupid dealer add on security system. You should be able to get a locksmith to cut you another key

You said you walked the road, is it possible they fell down into the engine bay somewhere? I feel like you would have found them on the road if they were there.

Why’s that? My single truck key works for all 3 of those.
You mean to have a copy made right? I think it’s quite a bit more if you don’t have the key for them to copy. I know that with some vehicles, and a pro locksmith, they can use your vin to get a code to punch into their machine, but it’s not cheap. $100. I have a friend that did this and her AAA paid the first $60, so $40 out of pocket. This is in so cal tho so YMMV

You can get a key cut at the dealer for “free” and the key is like 7 dollars or something. They get your vin and ask for registration here

Did the same here for crackie, but with no proof of registration papers... Kinda scary. Anyways, found out that the Doors use the same key as the ignition, but the ignition is so worn out that it only works with the worn out key. So it needs a new ignition cylinder. Not sure how to mend that without paying Stealer fees out the wazooooooo.

I can be one helluva parts changer, but not sure how to get a matching cylinder that isn't worn TF out.

Have you tried putting graphite on the key and working it in the cylinder?

The ignition was changed out at one point, as was the fuel door lock. That's why I can't take it to the dealer. Well, maybe for a door key I guess.

I haven't, but the new keys are identical to the old. Just not worn out. They go in fine, but don't turn the ignition. Need to confiscate some graphite from work
