Dirt Deeds injectors, Addco rear sway, AEM dry flow air filter, last ever set of Stan's Try-Y headers, Borla full custom exhaust, front level, wheel spacers, and lots of electronics.
DD has these headers taken off their website now. Called Stans to order their tri-y and Stan says he's retiring soon. I'm assuming since DD stopped offering the Stan's Tri-Y it means after Stan retires they're closing up. If you want Tri-Y, better order them while you can fron Stan.

We have the 2005 4R 4.7 2WD and it thinks it's a race car. Weight is the difference it seems.

Well, some of you guys better get together and call him. He works quick. Ordered them yesterday at lunch and when I talked to him today they were getting sent to get ceramic coated. He sells the tri-Y in SAIS and non-SAIS and can get them chromed or ceramic coated several different colors.

If you're puting them on an SAIS truck and plan on deleting the SAIS (VVTI 05-06) you'll need to have him put the SAIS flange on and puddle weld the air injection ports. Either that or do what I'm doing and drill and tap your heads for threaded plugs.

So are the Stans better then the JBL? Or are they only better for the VVTI guys?

    That depends on your goals.

There are plenty of videos and articles online comparing shorty, long tube 4-1, and 4-2-1 or tri-Y headers. Stan's are the tri-Y. Dirty Deeds and Under Dog Racing offer 4-1.

Tri-Y headers were originally developed by Shelby for the GT350. Their design was to increase horse power across the RPM band while maximizing torque below 4500 RPM. This torque optimization is why I chose tri-Y. Most normal driving in an automatic is done below 4500 RPM.

A majority of the dyno information comparing headers are done on the more popular OHV V8's and DOHC engines like ours and variable valve engines will respond differently compared to the OHV. Closest comparison I was able to find is the Coyote V8.

Shorty's will give a decent bump across the board, 4-1's a larger increase with big gains at high RPM, and the tri-Y has better HP and torque on the lower end and misses the 4-1 by about 5hp at the top end.

I'm working on an in-depth write up with dyno sheets and prices on my truck. I'll post it once the work, driving break-in, ecu self learn, and after dyno are complete.

Unfortunately, it wont be as comprehensive as I want. Unless another member with shortys or 4-1 headers with similar mods near me can visit the same dyno, I can only compare stock manifold vs tri-Y.

The tri y mid range gains are the whole reason I want them should make towing a little nicer

So I called Stans and he is officially retired and they don't do no more headers. Know that means no more Tri-y headers for us.

Coming soon to the FS section. Last set of Stan's tri-Y headers ever produced, in ceramic satin titanium... or not. They'll be on my truck.

Man, that sucks. I'm eager to see how they perform on the dyno but the data is useless because few people will be able to replicate the setup.

I wouldn't say useless, it should make people regret not buying Stan's while they could. Jokes aside, any well gathered data is great to see. I wish I had done a before and after when I installed my shorties.

Where is the dyno you plan to use (city/state)?

Seriously though, when I talked to Stan last week and he said he was retiring soon I figured he meant in a couple months, not days.

I was hoping the same but I guess it was days. So that means you got the last set of headers.

There's a hot rod shop Mo's Speed Shop down the street from my house that has a dyno. Usually reserved for tuning but I convinced them to let me make some pulls.

My original plan was to dyno my nearly stock truck, install all bolt on stuff, then dyno again just to give some real data to our members. "Hey, JBA shorties, JBA Y-pipe, and JBA cat back costs this much and makes X power and X torque." Then before I supercharge the engine put some 4-1s on there and dyno to show the power/dollar amount of shorty's vs 4-1. I'm not sponsored and it's my own money, so after research I decided just to go tri-y and full custom exhaust.

Maybe some folks who are willing with shorties, 4-1's, or DD exhaust setups can get their trucks dynoed near them. It's not as expensive as I originally thought. Even though the numbers wont be repeatable or comparable due to type of dyno, elevation, temperature, correction factors, etc. we can still compare power curves vs. rpm. We could only do a real numbers comparison using the same dyno on the same day. That may not be feasable.

The info would be a hell of a help for members thinking about upgrades and maybe even help convince tuners to produce parts and packages that really work.

HEY @dirtydeeds, Stan is retired. Buy his tri-y template and jigs. There's still a market for these.

Put your SAIS delete flanges on there, and the V-band flange so they can mate with your existing products.

How about if someone else calls Stans and ask him about a last run of headers

Might have better luck convincing Keith at Dirty Deeds to produce them. He used to carry the Stans tri-Y so he would have the numbers for how many his company sold.
