There’s something about her I really like. Also a fairly entertaining review. And that’s pro women mods!

Pretty sure this is just the brown color. Seems there is a brown and a color thats pretty much white in the 1794.

We are talking trucks here and the North American market which is the only place the Tundra competed and it falls far behind the F150 for the number of units sold.

I wouldn't mind her torquing my spark plug down!

I apologise for being politically incorrect. Installing filter now.

And it sounds like a Ford Raptor. :puke:... I'm also surprised at the MPG ratings. Maybe real world will be better? Don't really care about the quickness, it's a giant brick made to carry and tow stuff. Maybe one day I will own one of these fancy things but the day of needing another truck is way off in the future for me. Over all I think this is a solid build from Toyota given the Landcruiser frame and all. If I needed a new half ton this would probably be the one.

EXHAUSTs just like tires/rims are all easy fixes. I hated the sound of my Jeep with the 5.7, but Borla was a 2 hour bolt on fix for that. The Current TRD PRO and my Bullitt Mustang are the only vehicles I've ever owned where I did not want or need to upgrade the factory exhaust system. This is not an issue for me.

I'm likely sticking with my 2017 TRD PRO, but if I was to make the jump, it would be a 1794 with the TRD Off Road Package from all I've seen so far. If the TRD PRO didn't have all the dumb faux camo and wonky TOYOTA on the passenger dash, or Hybrid only, it would be my choice.

Not such and easy fix on a V6. The firing order of a V6 gives it an odd sound and an exhaust system isn’t going to fix that.

I'm curious to how those who bought the 21 model truly feel about their decision? I've seen on this thread those that try to "justify" their decision for getting the 21 model by putting down the new model. Me personally, I have a 14 and I'm super excited about the 22. There's no need to put down a specific model just because you bought the previous. I know people that don't actually like the new Tundra at all

And you don't have to assume that everyone with a 2.5 gen is putting down the new model just to make themselves feel better. People are allowed to dislike things just because they don't like them.

Who said I assumed "everyone" with a 2.5 gen is putting down the new model? I only stated that I have seen a few people on here to do that. That doesnt mean I "assume everyone" is the same.

That was a broad "you" to everyone on here who can't stand to hear anything about the new truck that isn't overwhelmingly positive.

The Ford F series is the #1 selling vehicle in North America , Chevy Silverado is #2 , Ram is #3 , how is Toyota #1 in North America ?
I know they’re the #1 manufacturer in rest of the world but not NA.

That's why I would trust the development team at Borla or other top shelf company to fix that. Will it sound like a V-8? unlikely, but better than stock no doubt. That's my only point.

I disagree. While not a V8 sound, I put the new Magnaflow Overland exhaust system on my son’s Taco and it sounds sweet. A perfect tone for a six banger.

It is an external heat exchanger. Is it part of another heat exchanger? You betcha! But, it’s still an external cooler, it’s just not a dedicated external cooler.

‘21 owner here. The overwhelming number one factor for me is reliability. I want to take my family out to remote places and get home without issue every time. The ‘22+ is going to be a great truck. The engine isn’t brand new and will most likely be very reliable, but it hasn’t been doing truck stuff, so time will tell if there are any kinks that need to be ironed out.

I was hoping the 3rd gen would be like a full-size Hilux with 2k lbs of payload in a decently optioned 4x4 crew cab with 14k lbs towing. THAT would have made me rethink keeping my ’21 long-term. But instead, they built a lifestyle truck. And that’s fine. They are the most profitable automaker in the world. They know better than me which market to aim at. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a bit disappointed that the payload needle has barely moved at all. 12k lbs towing but only 1270lbs payload in a 1794 CM 6.5’ bed is not much of a step forward. My minimally-optioned dinosaur of an SR5 has the exact same thing on the door jamb. Seems that we got about a 300-lb increase across the board comparing similarly-outfitted trims. That’s not much to wait 15 years for.

As it is, I don’t see much benefit in paying $50k+ to save ~$700 in fuel per year. If I were one of you guys with a 2007 I paid off long ago, I’d think harder about trading it in. But even then, I might just go HD gasser for the payload alone. To do truck stuff in the 2nd gen, we have to be above GVWR at times. That doesn’t seem like it has changed much at all with the 3rd gen.

Might have been the “perfect sound for a six banger” bit it isn’t going to sound anything like a V8.

Anyone checking out a Tundra and coming from a V6 isn’t going to like the sound it makes and potentially walk away. They’re not thinking “I’ll just add $800 in an exhaust system and hope it sound good”.

They did try to make it sound better by pipping in an artificial noise through the cabin.

Haha, coming from a guy who drives a Tundra. Go get that F150 and let us know how it works out. But for the love of man stop crying about 2 MPGs.

And this is what happens when you offer just one engine choice or more accurately, one truck choice. Not everyone gets what they want. Unlike the other guys who sell multiple trucks under the same model.

I wonder if the HILUX would have the same payload capacity rating based on US standards? Can't see how it could/would. This is why I mostly ignore the ratings and use my truck as I need.

My 2020 Mustang has a 1200lb cargo rating....... Just leaving that there ;-)

Please read and understand the post. I’m referring to the NA market and the number of F150 sold compared to the Tundra. There is a reason for that.

What I personally drive is not relevant.

Yup, no question, F150 is king of sales. Brand Loyalty, Leasing, short term ownership, repeat customers, fleet sales, etc etc, but is the #1 seller because it gives the people what they want. If buying a truck from the Big 3, it would be a GMC for me, but I'm happy with the old school tech, honest nature of the Tundra, and likely will be into my late 60's..... Though the wife has been hinting at a Sequoia TRD Pro recently......
