    Hello,
I've been on the Tacomaworld website for some time. Now it's time to upgrade to a full size truck. I'm leaning towards a Tundra so I thought I would log on here and see how satisfied real tundra owners are.

I look forward to making new friends.

    Welcome!

What year(s) were you looking at?
Are you looking at the double cab or crewmax version?

You will love the power of the V8 (get the 5.7 if you can)
Gas mileage isn't as bad as you would think...that just depends on what your driving styles are like.

You will find you cannot turn as great as you can in the Tacoma, but it's not that bad.

The crewmax has a TON of room in the inside, compared to the Tacoma. The DC doesn't have as much room, but you gain it in length for the bed.

Welcome to the site. Coming from a Silverado, I would never go back. Very happy with my truck and choice of coming to Toyota. And like Sean said, get the 5.7. Thing is a beast.

Plenty of folks from TW in here.

What's the goal for moving up? More space/comfort/towing?

If you have a nice size family you will certainly enjoy the crewmax. Love my Tundra, wish I had bought it sooner.

You will be very happy with a tundra. I am very happy with mine.
5.7 is awesome and crewmax has lots of room for the family and still enough bed space to get the job done.

Not sure what Sean is talking about with turn radius because I came from a 6" lifted tacoma that had horrible turn radius. Tundra turn radius is good.

Thanks guys I feel welcomed already.
I have quads and kids so I'm looking for a longbed and 5.7 and 4:30 axel ratio and a towing pkg. I'm looking to upgrade to a toy hauler. My Tacoma can't pull what I need. But I love my DCSB.

Well you are on a Tundra board, so 3 guesses what the consensus will be :) I have a Double-cab. My quadRunner 500 fits nicely in the bed, but I have to leave the tailgate open. Of course that may not matter if you are getting a toy hauler.

The Tundra is a great tow vehicle, particularly with the 5.7L monster motor. I'm averaging about 14.7 MPG in mixed driving (stock wheels), unless I'm towing of course. One of my first mods was air-bags with an onboard compressor. It really helps level out the truck when hauling the ATV or a heavy hitch-weight trailer. Speaking of leveling, our trucks sit a bit lower on the front than the back. One common mod you'll hear about is a 3/1 leveling kit, which bumps the front up 3" and the back up 1".

I just converted over from a 06 Tacoma Quad Cab Long bed to a Crewmax 5.5 bed. I can tell you it is night and day room wise. I have two kids, one almost as tall as me and the other still in a car seat. Their room in the back is unreal. I thought I'd miss my Taco but I don't. The Tundra just has more power and room and rides really well. I too purchased for the increased room and towing capabilities. I'd highly recommend the crewmax as we looked at all of them and for the amount of time something is in the bed, it didn't outweigh the times people ride in the cab. If I need the extra space I'll drop the gate and add an extender. Seriously love the Tundra.

I second the crewmax. If you can live with the slightly shorter bed it's the way to go.

I traded in my DC for a CM...best decision yet. I regret not doing it this way the first time...then again, the interior wasn't re-designed until 2014, so I guess it worked out.

Do you guys know if the Tundra comes in a crewmax long bed? I've been doing searches on dealers websites and they don't really tell you short/standard/long bed.

I'm still trying to decide on a truck. I'm giving my self 2 months to find a truck. I'm looking for help. I have a few questions and I'm sure the answer will be more like opinions. But I want opinions.

When is the best time to buy a new tundra?

What's is better low interest rate (0% - 2.5%) or low price?

I know I'm going to change tires and suspension. Should I get a more base truck or can I ask the dealer to remove rims and other options? Would they do that?

    Any advice on negotiations?

Once again thanks for your responses.

    Oscar.

Ok in order of your questions:
Crewmax does not come in a reg/long bed.
    Sizes are:
    Regular cab = 6.5' and 8' bed
Double Cab = 6.5' bed and 8' bed
    CrewMax = 5.5' bed

Best time to buy is August. Dealers are trying to sell to get ready for the next year model.

Depends, they will provide a printout showing you the end total after interest of what you will pay. The end number being low may be best for some but others like lower monthly payments. Haggle them as low as you can. The interest might not be negotiable.

The dealer should have different options for the truck on the lot. They will most likely not remove items to make it cheaper, only upgrades. First hurt to ask though.

I hate negotiating. I just act dumb and keep asking for a lower number. And say that's nice but.... A lot

Thanks Sean. Tires and wheels will come off asap. As for the lift. I'm looking at 2wd and probably get a spindle lift for the front end.

So I need to look for a double cab. Maybe I'll wait 3 months instead of 2 if that saves me a few grand.
When negotiating should I negotiate a monthly payment? Or Final truck price/ out the door price?

    Thanks Brian

Never negotiate a monthly payment. Next thing you know you will have an affordable payment but that will come with a long-term high interest loan. I have used the Costco buyers program for my last few vehicle purchases. There is no negotiating. Prices are preset. For my 2015 SR5 CM TRD the pre negotiated price was $5000 below invoice. There was also a $750 rebate and 0% financing through Toyota. Don't believe I could have negotiated anything better than that. In and out in about 45 minutes. No head games. I believe AAA has a similar program. Good luck!

P.S. I have heard end of month is a good time to buy as well.

If you are looking for a long bed with rear seat, then Double Cab with Long Bed (DCLB) is the only option. But these are very long (longest configuration) and you will likely need two parking spaces to park. As others have suggested, CM with trailer might be a more convenient option for many, but you are the one who knows exactly what you need for your situation.

I can't do a 5.5 bed. I don't think that's any longer than my Tacoma. I don't have a toy hauler yet, and I probably won't for a few years. That's the main reason I need the longer bed.

Does anybody know the full truck lengths of all three body styles DCLB, DCSB & CMSB?

I have a 10x5 utility trailer I use when I need to haul something long. Just an idea because they are not expensive at all.

The double cabs with 8' beds look horrible in my opinion.

Looks like you can get a conversion for a long bed on a crewmax

Yes. Look at your needs. The Crewmax is big inside but if you need a bed longer than its 5.5-foot bed, you can't have it with the crewmax
