    A bunch
I'd take all the current fuel mileage tests with a grain of salt - Toyota's are notorious for taking 1-2k miles to 'learn' how to ideally balance out the engine and drink a lot more fuel for those early miles. Lot of people were reporting 11-12 early on with the 5.7. So 7-8 MPG better with reasonable driving would put the new one at mid 20's once broken in.

Yep, and these trucks aren't being driven normally either. 0-60 times, off-roading, and just aggressive acceleration every chance they get.

I can read just fine, but I also don't post on forums for vehicles I hate just to express as such.

How much is everyone's dealer requesting for a deposit? One of them in my area is requesting $2000 deposit refundable, and giving me $1000 bonus cash if I pre-order.

Is the 2022 a better? Yes. Is the 2021 obsolete? Heck no. Dude, enjoy your truck.

I don't update my vehicles very often. I'm probably waiting a couple of years to replace my taco. I really like the new tundra. I would get a hybrid for sure. The thing with hybrids or electrics is that they can make changes easy. They could change the battery pack easy in a year or two. They could put something more efficient and then tune the truck to use more battery and boom you could get more HP, more torque and more MPG's. This truck will end up with solid state batteries. I'm guessing MY2026. could have our under the seat storage back. I would love to get solid state batteries. Bump the use of the battery. Don't just use it until 18-20MPH. Give me more. Would like to get 30MPG.

Apparently the new taco is coming earlier than I expected, will have to look at that too.

Dealers near me won't even discuss orders yet. I sure hope you guys are not settling for MSRP as a good deal.

I haven't discussed numbers yet, I'm still probably going to hold off for a while. I was just curious what others were seeing, $2K seems high to me.

I'll give them whatever they want for a deposit as long as it's refundable for any reason. It's not like they do custom orders anyway. What I won't do is pay MSRP or above nor will I pay for garbage, money grab add-ons.

My tundra has never gotten over 17 MPGs highway driving between 70 and 75. I expect I’ll hit 21 highway in the 2222. I get around 14 in town and I expect to improve that to 17. Both are solid enough and the expected gains based of the Ford ecoboost. I really didn’t expect Toyota to have some sort of magic dust where they could take the same displacement/turbo and hybrid engines both with 10 speed transmissions and comparable weights and improve on Fords fuel economy ratings.

The hybrid is apparently a beast. If you "Give it the beans" it will throw you back into your seat....

I don't expect that either as Toyota is one of the very few cars I've ever owned where I didn't get the EPA mileage.

It really bugs me when they do a mileage test and say we got 20 mpg. But they don’t state at what speed and temperature.. 20 going 75 is awesome. 20 going 55 isn’t that awesome.

I'm guessing he drove down US 281 from SA to Hidden Falls, which is a 70 - 75 mph state hwy with several slow downs through towns.

It does show 80 degrees when he shows the readout from the truck so it was probably 85 during the day while he was driving. I do think they should of stated what speed they traveled at though.

the only way the 21 is obsolete is if the 22 can fly and roads disappeared.

So the ‘22 Tundra page on Toyota’s website now has a mini configurator that shows the different colors for the different trims.
