I believe I might become a Tundra owner this weekend if things work out. I found a decent deal on a used 2019 with 57K miles, would you be at all hesitant to purchase this truck. It is for sale at a Toyota dealer and they said they don't usually certify their vehicles because it adds to the cost. How many miles were on your used truck when you purchased it and anything else look for?

Can you elaborate on the trim level, is it 4x4, options and features that's included with it.

I deleted my previous post because I misread your original post and the link and mixed up the miles and price haha.

That price is about on the high side of a fair price. go to TrueCar.com and use that as a baseline. You don't have to register but you can the average prices that people have paid within your area.

I got a 2015 TRD Pro with 98k miles back in June, from a dealer, one prior owner. Only problem was the 4wd was barely (if ever) used, so there was a minor issue with the transfer case. Otherwise it's in fantastic condition.
I crossed my fingers and gambled on the Toyota legend, as well as taking it for a test drive.
50Shades is correct on the price. However I'd be more concerned about the condition of the vehicle. Make sure you check out the car fax (look for regular maintenance, especially oil changes) and drive it, including highway, make sure it can accelerate properly, etc.
Also don't be afraid to negotiate. I talked my dealer down a few thousand AND got the front windows tinted on him.

Agree with @50Shades above. It's on the high side, but probably a fair price for THIS market.

Also gotta consider out the door price... depends where you live, you are probably looking close to 45-6k out the door...no warranty.
And if you do decide to get the extended warranty, (I would on a used vehicle), youre looking closer and closer to 50k.

$42k for a used SR5 with 60k sounds like a shitload to me, but to each their own.

I would not be worried about any mileage Tundra, from new to 300k. That thing has barely any miles on it, and shouldn't need anything besides oil changes for another 100k. I would test that every single switch and button and function works, and if it's rust free and meets your price point I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

On the west coast $42k isn’t bad for that truck. I’m not a fan of used late model trucks as there isn’t much of a discount off new but new is hard to find now.

I’d look it over carefully. Detailing won’t hide everything. If the under carriage is clean without mud or damage it probably wasn’t used off road or on the farm. 2-3 years old in Arizona it should still look new underneath. Condition of the bed will tell you a lot too.

When I was younger and dumber I bought a truck with similar miles and age that turned out to be flogged daily on the farm. It was a terd from day 1. I didn’t pay attention to the clues - interior of box dented, undercarriage coated in mud, splash pan dented, blown shocks, rear bump stops missing and air lines for airbags but the bags were gone too, etc. Dealer polished it up nice though.

This is one of the lower priced ones in my Market and it seems none of them will budge even a bit. One good thing about AZ is that we we dont have road salt to deal with on vehicles.

    Yep ^^^.

Know this OP. I've had seven (7) new-from-the-dealer Toyotas beginning in 1985. All different engine configurations. They all have taken until 60,000 miles for the engine to fully seat (ie: finish breaking in). The truck you're considering is just a fledgling baby.

Whats your budget? do you mind driving to neighboring states? I say still shop around. $42k with 60k miles is high.

I will pay actually pay $100 to someone if they can find me a similar truck with like features within 250 miles of zip code 86326 (Cottonwood,AZ) that is lower priced AND I end up purchasing it. I have beat autotrader, edmunds, toyota dealers, FB marketplace, Carvanna and other sites to hell in my searching.

    Here are my requirements

    Tundra
    crew cab
    4x4
    38 gal tank
    under 60K miles
colors: red, white, blue, gray, (no black, cement, brown or tan)
    tow package w/ trailer brake
    good tires
    no accidents
    good car fax history
    < $44,000 asking
No Vroom or deliver and sign dealers. (I want to test drive it and kick the tires for as long as I like)

May seem a bit high, but at least around here, I'd say it's priced similarly to other comparable trucks. I'm in the PNW and found these examples:

    2017 SR5, 37k miles, $43k
    2018 SR5, 72k miles, $44k
    2016 SR5, 68k miles, $38k
    2016 SR5, 63k miles, $40k
    2018 SR5, 42k miles, $47k

Linky no work (Edit: now it did for me)

Edit again, sorry no Vroom deals because you cannot test drive them before. The drive up and give you 20 minutes to drive it and look it over before signing the papers.

Make sure that you drive another Tundra or two so that you can compare the feeling of the steering, transmission, and engine before you buy. As for the mileage, 57K is nothing. The price is a little high but what are you going to do right now when not much is available.

Bought my 2018 with 59k in May for $36k out the door. Prices have gone up a little since then.
If you feel like it’s a good deal considering your extensive search, and it’s what you want, buy with confidence. You’re still under factory powertrain warranty for another 3k.

Sorry, I found that one but the carfax maint record is horrible> know that isnt always a true image of the maint. as some ppl do it themselves, but it shows the only oil change at 40K.

I thought I read that the new vehicle limited warranties automatically transfer. I could be wrong. Maybe someone else could verify.

I believe it does. Certified usually bumps it up to 7/70 I believe.
