Hey guys, trying to figure out how to mount shovel and ax in the bed. I have a shell so using the rails doesn't seem to be a good option with a standard tool mount.

You can still use the factory Toyota accessory rails even with a cap. I used some steel flat stock from the local hardware store and bent it up with drilled holes to mount a hi-lift and some quick fists for the shovel in the bed of my old truck. I purchased stainless steel t-nuts for the factory accessory rails off a-mazon.

Still mounted in the bed even after adding the cap and sleeping platform/drawer system!

    Billstein 6112/5160's, coachbuilder spacer on driver side/ 20" rockstar wheels/ 33" nitto ridge grappers/SS Brake lines (or as most people write Break), Painted Calipers/Powercoated Tow hooks/pocket flairs/heated seats,bed leds/line-x liner/xtang trifold/tow mirrors/Stereo Work/Compustar Remote Starter/ retrofit Morimoto Minin H1 and switch back LEDs/ plenty I'm forgetting
Mine are installed via "quick fist holders from Amazon" i just drilled and screwed them in under the rail. silicone the holes in the bed. Works great for my needs.

It’s very easy to make your own.
I spent around $30 and have great shovel and axe mounts.
