AJT Design has a kit of all the parts you need to get rid of all the chrome on the inside. And I think it's on sale!! I installed it a month or so ago and LOVE it.

I did see the video on the steering wheel. It looks like the SEM paint holds up pretty well and is durable?

I'm a bit of an outlier as the touches of chrome don't bother me. The only part I wasn't a fan of was the cupholder trim which I purchased a carbon fiber replacement from Tufskinz. I have the same on the door window switches and it adds a nice contrast an ties in well with the doors. The finish is also a softer material which I like.

Paul, it looks your truck got slammed by a carbon fiber tsunami. That's got to be the only one like it on the island I bet?

Probably right. My 1st Tundra (13/SR5) I wrapped most of my pcs. This time (17/Platinum) just wanted to to do something different.

CarID.com /interior/dash trim then pick you patterns and color. They sell by section ie; center console, entertainment dash, dash cluster, doors, has cover, outside pillar etc.

Looks nice i was thinking about getting the ajt design black out kit with everything black and maybe painting the silver one the steering wheel and around the center console. But im worried it might be over kill (im getting a 21 platinum in april, currently being built). Maybe i should leave the silver for contrast? When using the SEM paint did you have to prep the trim pieces? Did you need to primer first?

Thanks. I really like the black trim. I have to say the silver/chrome delete was worth it. The doors are the hardest part because that plastic piece is plastiwelded in and you have to cut it out. To put it back together I screwed it back in. It is sturdy and I have zero concerns. Others have JB welded them back in with success too. I chose this route as I didn’t want to have to undue the second weld if I scratched it. I can simply unscrew and screw back in.

To paint I only wiped with alcohol and let it dry. I then gave it like 6 coats of paint. To do again....probably wouldn’t hurt to use a very fine sand paper and rough it a bit then alcohol wipe.

I painted all doors, the center console and every silver or chrome in the dash. I followed the videos from @2020Platinum and had no issues with things going back together. You may consider getting a dozen of the yellow and a dozen of the white clips as some will come off. I spent a ton of time digging them out of the dash. I couldn’t find a few but I have no rattles thankfully.

if I was at a decision point of do I paint or ajt...I would paint again due to personal preference. No dig on ajt intended as lots on here enjoy their equipment. It just isn’t my taste.

The only thing left on the interior for me is a black shifter knob and the chrome toyota emblem on the steering wheel. Oh and a leather wheel....but that is in shipping now! Good luck. Post pics.

Has anyone blacked out the chrome shifter shaft?
Can't find anything about anyone doing it here or on the Google.
    Thanks in advance!

I thought about this, but there's not a lot of room between the shaft and the plastic sheet. I was also worried about the "grippiness" of the rubber snagging on it when shifting instead of sliding. I guess I was trying to find something more "slippery" that would have less friction.

Have you done this? Do you have pics?
I also have a hard time finding Heat shrink tubing without writing on the outside.... Any recommendations here?
    Thank you!

Haven't done it yet. Noted your same concerns, though. I've planned on it, and will post pics when done - and links to product, if I can.

Did you take the entire dash apart to paint the vent trims and the long accent trim pieces surrounding the radio area?

Great job! Definitely looks way way better than stock.

Im thinking of doing the steering wheel trim pieces, watched a couple YouTube videos and it looks fairly easy but taking the entire dash apart to do the vent and accent trim pieces……Wow that looks like a HUGE job.
