Those wheels are sweet, I just can't figure out why they're 20s.

Yeah, not a lot of tire for true off road. Maybe they are thinking that the off-road done in these trim levels will be light off-road with more on road so are sacrificing off-road performance for on road looks.

its even more than that, 20s ride worse in just about every condition than 18s. first thing I did when I bought my platinum was have them keep the 20s and buy me some other tires and brought in my own 18s.

not a fan of 20s at all, just my .02 though

I'm with you on the thinking but how many threads are there on here where someone asks for advice on which trim to get and every answer is "1794 then level and add Pro Suspension"?

I wonder if that would improve if I factory (or aftermarket) lift the truck and throw on some bigger tires on the 20 wheels. I gotta say, even with 20s, the wheels looks small on the truck.

    What color are people wanting?

I want a color that blends in to the woods, so I am considering Grey or Army green.

Any color list out there yet?

Ride will always improve with larger tires because you're increasing sidewall.

I'm thinking black if I go with the Pro. My other possible options are Platinum and Limited and on those I'll go MGM so the shinier bits will look more like accents and won't stand out so much. I wish they brought back cement.

    Dude see below!

    https://tfltruck.com/2021/10/the-ba...t-like-the-rest-of-them-here-are-the-details/

The Base 2022 Toyota Tundra SR Is Not Like the Rest Of Them – Here Are the Details

You may have heard a lot about the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra, but the very base SR model of the truck has some very peculiar specs. The base Tundra’s twin-turbo engine is rated at a lower power output, and its towing is significantly lower than other new Tundras. Here are all the details.

While I did not have a chance to drive or see a new Tundra SR, Toyota has published the following specifications and the images you see here. The Tundra SR is equipped with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo gas V6 engine that is rated at 348 hp @ 2,400 rpm and 405 lb-ft of torque @ 2,000 rpm. The engine is still mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission. (The other new Tundras are rated at 389 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque.)

When we asked the Toyota team about this unique SR-only power rating, they responded to say that the SR is meant to be a “simple” truck that still offers great torque and capability.

The base Tundra SR 2WD double-cab offers the best payload rating of all the new Tundras at 1,940 lbs. However, the SR maximum towing rating has been limited to 8,300 lbs.

Here is a close look at the new 2022 Tundra base truck. The images also show base interior seat design, as well as the new 8-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia screen. This 8-inch screen is standard on the new Tundra SR and SR5 trim levels.

When I placed my sale order order with the dealer, wind chill white was not available on the platinum, just super white (from what I could remember).

    um technically no.

18" tires will have more sidewall than a 20" tire on the same vehicle.

The 20s definitely looks great but disappointing that they are included on the Off-Road package (on higher trims). I would definitely prefer the 18s.

We were referring to if we lifted the truck and was able to get the same side wall (from bigger tires) on a 20 as we would on an 18 with a non lifted truck.
I’m riding on 16s right now lol so this is all new to me

well if you going from a 265/60 tire to a 285/60 tire then yes its a bigger sidewall but you didnt specify that. but then again you would have to change or modify other things since the ecu will be off on speed, etc since the tire circumference is wrong. hence you see tire dealers or calculators +0 / +1 / +2 offsets.

if you are comparing a oem 285/65R18 tire to a 265/60R20 tire, then technically the 20 has a shorter sidewall but same circumference as the R18, which is what you are looking for so you dont break stuff that the computers and what not are expecting the tires to meet a certain spec.

    edit:

    to also add...

    245/75R18 (SR ONLY)
    265/70R18 (SR5 ONLY
    265/60R20 (SR5, LIMITED, PLATINUM, 1794)
    285/65R18 (TRD PRO ONLY)

these tires/rim size are interchangeable on a tundra since they are all the same circumference. this will be good reference if you decide to go with aftermarket rims, since this will not affect your speedometer or distance to empty or etc that uses oem tire circumference as a reference point in calculations.

just be careful as the oem rims are 18x8 or 20x8.

so if you get a 9in+ width rim it could slightly affect things.

Might not be available. When I did my sale order the dealer didn’t have wind chill, lunar rock, or army green available for the platinum.

    platinum was:
Pure white (but now I’m second guessing it it was wind chill because platinum with pure white doesn’t make sense. Honestly, I didn’t want white so I didn’t pay close attention to it)
    Black
    Grey
    Red
    Silver
    Blueprint

For my platinum I wanted lunar. They said N/A. I said army green. They said N/A. Then it was between red and blueprint, and I spent an hour comparing the colours and I finally went with blueprint.

based on what I’ve seen, the max tow package isn’t an option for the Pro but that may not be correct. Pretty sure the SR5 has a higher payload. I believe the Pro only comes with the hybrid for now, so you lose the storage.

The better question is what does the Pro offer to people who do truck stuff that justifies the higher price.

Edit: Based on this https://toyota-cms-media.s3.amazona...2_Toyota_Tundra_Product_Information_FINAL.pdf, the big truck stuff items that the Pro does not offer as an option or as part of a package, while the SR5 does:

    - Tow mirrors
    - Load leveling suspension
    - Trailer backup guide system with straight path assist

The Pro is designed as a luxury off roader and maybe light duty overland type truck. The SR5 is better for doing truck stuff.

The Pro is optimized for off road. It's not meant for people who want maximum 'truck stuff' capability.

So glad I'm comfortably average. :D

True. But for the price difference between the SR5 and Pro you can buy a SR5 with the tow and TRD off road packages, put some aftermarket parts like suspension on and be optimized for both off road and truck stuff.

Sure. It's just silly for someone who wants max payload and towing to look at the luxury off road trim and say "why doesn't that have what I want?"
