Yeah it wears and ages a lot better too. No complaints about the semi aniline leather in my GX though.

Damn that was one of the few features I regretted not having on my C8. Sounds like I wasn't missing much.

At least you can turn it off (I think).

Sorry but the digital review mirrors are a god send. Clearer vision than a mirror, wider angle, easier to glance at and you don’t have to adjust your mirror.

Glad you like yours, you are honestly the first person I have heard (other than someone trying to sell a vehicle with it) that says that they like it better than the regular mirror. What vehicle do you have it on?

Was looking at the bed specs and comparing to my Ram 1500. Surprised to see it's quite a bit smaller in all dimensions. Curious why this might be the case when overall size of both trucks is similar?

until you have to clean the camera off if its caked with dirt/mud/snow/slush like your back window :)

at least on most suv they have a rear wiper than can at least clean off a small spot to see out of while driving. otherwise you are stopping to get out to clean the camera. works great if you are a pavement/garage queen, not so much if you drive dirt roads all the time or have snowy state.

Someone mentioned earlier that is really handy when you have a tri-fold cover covering the back window. I hate it when my dirtbike is in the bed and I can't see a single piece of it because the entire back window is blocked. They also have the bed cam in some of the models to help with that.

oh dont get me wrong, the benefits are a heck of a lot better than just using the regular rearveiw mirror for those exact situations that block your view out the window but is solved by a camera that is either above or beyond the back window. but you have to take into account that an external camera is subject to the same issues your back window has in poor conditions.

plenty of times i've had to clean my rear camera and window when the rear wiper isnt strong enough to move wet/heavy snow or camera gets covered in snow or melted snow that freezes to the camera. or summer times going down a dirt road for miles to get to a fishing spot.

Our traverse had a separate sprayer for that camera so a few quick squirts and it was good. But they do get dirty quickly and easily.

It does come in handy when the rearview mirror is blocked, I just hate using it because of the difficulty I have focusing on the image, and the fact that for me, at least, looking at an image without seeing any part of the vehicle as a reference point feels like I'm just looking at something random and my brain has a hard time relating what I'm seeing to where I actually am. It's the same if I can't see the side of my car when I look at my side mirrors.

yeah most people get use to seeing the side of your vehicle in the side mirrors until you are taught that you really should put your mirrors to cover the spots the rearview mirror misses, which means you technically shouldnt be able to see the side of your vehicle normally. now granted its a pain when you dont have auto tilt reverse mirrors to re-adjust your view in reverse, but in my 4runner i have adjusted without that feature compared to the tundra.

you should be able to watch a vehicle go from your rearview mirror to your side mirror in a seamless transition or better yet, slight overlap. took me awhile to adjust to this concept but overall its a lot better setup.

i honestly learned that a few years back after watching a YouTube video on how to properly adjust your mirrors. Never learned it in drivers Ed all those years ago.

Is the TRD Off-Road package really coming with 20in wheels? (I know the TRD Sport does) When I got my 1794 I opted for the XP package which came with 20in wheels and always regretted that.
Will be looking at SR5 or Limiter and Pam to get the Off Roar package but would hate to have the 20s again.

I wish these youtube reviewers would quit using Limited and Pro trims. Let's get really in depth on the truck the majority of people are actually going to buy, the SR5.

I think it’s just based on the models Toyota has made available to them. They are probably trying to push the higher trim models so made more of those available so that’s what we see. But yeah, the SR5 is one sweet looking trim model and has a lot of what people are looking for from a truck, so I agree with you.

I think the TRD OR gets 18s on the SR5 only.

That makes sense and I'm sure that's what's happening. Kinda dumb though. Toyota can push the higher trim models all they want. That's not going to make most people fork over another $15K when the SR5 is a better bang for the buck. I for one look at the Pro and think "Sweet ride, but it's missing a ton of basic truck features that the SR5 has." The Pro is 95% aesthetics. If anything, all the focus on the Pro has put me off of it. Same for the hybrid. I was psyched about a hybrid until I saw the loss of storage under the back seat and the likely price premium. Give up that much storage and pay that much more to gain maybe 5mpg? Yeah, no.

Buy the SR5 with the max tow package and spend the $15K or more difference that a Pro hybrid would cost and upgrade the SR5 and buy gas.

There’s a few out there, but you’re right. Definitely not as many videos as the higher/flashier trims. And right now, it’s looking like optioning out an SR5 with aftermarket suspension is the best way to make the most capable truck (and most likely cheaper to add a better suspension than going with a TRD pro).

In this video they drive an SR5 TRD off road right after driving the TRD pro and compare it a bit (at 11:05 they start driving the SR5).

    A bunch
So just like the 2.5 gen the TRD Off Road 18" rims will be in demand if people choose to sell them. Sure looks like Toyota didn't put a ton of thought into the rims, which is smart since so many people now this is the very first upgrade they do even before even taking delivery of the vehicle.
