I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I would be surprised if they reduced engine weight very much under the 5.7L. What was reduced in weight shaving off two pistons, two con rods, and the materials in the block, heads, cam, and crank were probably mostly gained back in liquid to air intercooler hardware, and turbochargers. Plus the new 10 speed transmission and significantly beefed up transfer case probably weigh a bit more, maybe the same but that would be quite a feat of engineering.

Using aluminum for the hood, fenders, and doors (I think) saved weight. The composite bed with aluminum reinforcement definitely saves weight.

I suspect two dual rate coil springs save a substantial amount of weight over two leaf spring out back. I’ll bet we would be surprised how much weight that saves, although the equipment for the 5 link rear eats back into the weight savings.

I’m curious what the hybrid upgrade will cost. I feel like it’s going to be a worthy upgrade for me.

I am surprised by the curb weight. Assuming these are 4 wheel drive the curbs weights are almost identical to 2021 models and about 400 pounds higher than an F150.

My 2008 Crewmax Limited 4x4 is like 1270 Payload. this is a pretty good improvement. I wonder what the long bed is?

Is it true that you only have the auto power windows up and down for the driver ?

I hope that CM Platinum PL is real but I'll believe it when I see it on a door sticker.

its probably because they now offer the off road package on the 1794 and not the platinum.

damn thats annoying. I want all 4 auto/up/down. Hopefully all 4 buttons are fucking backlit this time. When I bought my Limited I was annoyed that only the drivers window was backlit. Hell I can't find the door locks in the dark.

Glad to see HUD is equipped. No videos give this information I was a bit worried. Now new Tundra has every single feature that new modern vehicle should have and is ready to battle all these EVs. Rejoice!

Doesn't look like driver's glass is auto-up and auto down( like our 04 Honda Pilot!o_O) only auto down.

If it’s anything like the up charge with current Toyota hybrids, $1500 to $2k wouldn’t seem out of the norm.

So what exactly is the thigh adjustment support on the front seats? Also anyone know any of the mileage expectations for the new engines?

The thigh adjustment is part of the seat cushion. The front of the seat cushion folds down (as normal) but can be adjusted and lifted up to suit those with longer legs.

As for mileage, I think that may come out soon. I read there was an embargo about testers talking about driving experience until today and I heard that that may also include mileage. I saw som YouTube videos premiering at 7 discussing driving the truck so I’ll try to post a link when I find it again.

Yeah, it’s nice for taller drivers. But with the spec sheet being released today, we can confirm that the Pro definitely does not get that, and also doesn’t have the heads up display, the heated and ventilated rear seats, or the rear sunshades.

It has definitely caught my interest. I have a 17 Crew Platinum and the driver door panel is toast. I stand 6'5 and my legs have to go somewhere. I am so ready for the new ones to come out so I can check them out.20210927_140306.jpg

if you can find a 2018 or higher platinum/1794, they have the seat bolster as standard to test.

I have to admit, Toyota really modernized their interiors and optioned the trim levels appropriately. Whilst I would love a TRD Pro, I can’t stomach $12k+ over MSRP to get one and still have a stupid 5.5ft bed.
I think a lot of people will go with a highly optioned Platinum or 1794 with 4x4 off road package and finally get the best of both worlds.

That's strange... in the youtube vid below, if you skip to about 10:05 when he opens the door you can see what appears to be the memory seat buttons on the driver door. I'm sure there's a better video out there that can confirm/deny this.... but let's hope the spec sheet is wrong.

but the option sheets shows it as part of the AVS system and rear bag package, just a really odd combo package

They just updated the option sheet.
    https://pressroom.toyota.com/vehicle/2022-toyota-tundra-i-force-max/

Not sure about what is going on the rea diff on the platinum. When it comes up as a line item it is N/A whiel the 1794 shows it as a P (package). Later down, the TRD package is available on both the plat and 1794 which contain the rear diff. I think they still have some proofreading to do.

Don’t forget the fully boxed frame. Back when Ford announced that the super duty line would be getting the aluminum skin like the F-150, they said there would be zero weight reduction. What they gained in weight reduction from the aluminum would be spent making a stronger/stiffer frame.
David from Automotive Press on YouTube has great info and does read posted comments looking for questions etc.
