Heard from more than one industry source, most manufacturers don’t finalize pricing until the very last minute. Same with EPA numbers, Sweers said as of the reveal EPA fuel economy numbers were still being certified.

When this is being referred to we are talking about the 1/2 ton market being watered down by people basically moving from cars into trucks. Then it becomes a family hauler vs something you can actually work. Yes specs are better but simple things like the no tow hooks, no proper way to step into the bed with the tailgate down. Stuff like that. I use my truck to make a living, I know people think the tow hook thing is being blown up but I use mine a lot to remove shrubs and stumps. This new truck I couldn't do that for example. I'm in and out of the bed a lot during the day, not being able to step up on the leading edge of the bumper is not helpful. But they wanted it to look good and be slick for aero so here we are. Electric power steering is another, you just don't have a good feel with it, sweers defended this on the current gen tundra as it was still hydraulic for this exact reason.. Now it has gone to electric. Things like this is what's creating the gap between the 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks. It's been trending this way and now with the new tundra it's a done deal. Pretty much all my buddies in the trades with me who are using trucks to make a living have moved onto 3/4ton trucks from there previous 1/2tons. All various makes, it's not just a Toyota thing all the manufacturers are going this way.

The fast lane video does seem to confirm an actual transmission cooler.

The way you use your truck is a very small percentage. Toyota and other manufactures are making truck more luxurious and less capable because that’s what the largest percentage of truck buyers want. Most half tons spend their time on pavement commuting to work and picking up a few 2x4s at Home Depot on the week end.

Looks like it has true duals and than it connects with a y pipe after the cats. Any benefits from going true dual out the back on a twin turbo engine?

I don't plan on drag racing my truck, but with the amount of increased torque, those hybrid numbers are not very impressive compared to the nonhybrid. What is the current Tundra's times?

I do like those numbers, hybrid maybe pushing mid to high 20's on city and highway?

I think you are confusing torque with horsepower

I expected the same thing. Believe the current Tundra is high 6’s low 7 sec range. Alex on Autos said that Toyota didn’t use aluminum extensively like Ford did in their trucks, and the hybrid system adds about 600lbs, and that would factor in. Also there is only one axle ratio so that factors in also. It’s a tad bit disappointing, but it could also mean Toyota tuned it for reliability and low stress over outright speed.

The old adage, “horsepower is how fast you can go, torque is how quickly you get there.”

um i think where you got those numbers is incorrect.

hybrid is getting around 6.3/6.4 0-60.

    non hybrid was 6.81 0-60

EDIT: the 6.4 was with a .9 incline per his measuring device
